Monogram Notebook Holder

This Monogram Notebook holder was a fun and easy project that we made last week at my Stamp Camp.  It uses an empty clear mount stamp case to hold a notepad and pen.  Its a great way to keep your notepads from getting all ripped or wrinkled in your bag.  And, it keeps a pen close at hand as well, that is, if you remember to put the pen back after you use it and not just throw it down somewhere like me!  But hey, I have to keep trying to stay organized or it would be worse, right?  The cases are available from Stampin' Up! ($5.95 for 4) for those who like to change their wood mounted stamps to the newer cling mount style.
The paper I used is the very pretty Paisley Petals.  I really like the colors of this paper.

Over at Splitcoaststampers there was a challenge to make something with the "Domestic Goddess" suite. Here is how that turned out. I think it turned out pretty good. I used die cut letters and my "Big Shot" to make the words. The "Domestic Goddess" paper already has that very cute stripe of gingham at the top and bottom of the sheet, so I simply cut the paper so that the ginham stripe was at the top.  The checked pattern made it very easy to line up my letters.  I was trying to think of something to put towards the bottom and didnt want to do a monogram again. I right away thought of the most important item on my grocery list, coffee!  The problem was, I didnt have a coffee cup stamp that i felt was in the same style as the paper.  Then I thought to look through my digital stamps and YEA! I had the coffee cup that matched the paper.  I resized the cup (a great thing about digital images is being able to resize them!) added some words "dont forget coffee!" and printed it out onto my wisper white card stock.  I then punched out my image with the decorative lable punch.  I punched out two more of the lables in calypso coral and used the two coral punches to make one larger frame for my coffee cup lable.  For the inside, I cut out some more letters with my Big Shot and made a pocket of the left over paper from the cover.  The pocket is great for storing coupons!  I also added a note pad and a pen.    Finished.  I really like the finished project and I hope you do too!
One thing I would like to add about the notebooks themselves.  It was really hard to find a notebook that was the right size. In fact, I never did find one. Then I remembered another demo telling me that she had the spine cut off her catalog and had it spiral bound, and that she had it done at Office Depot.  So I went to the Office Depot near me and asked about having the note pads cut.  I bought an eight pack of notepads, and he was able to cut them all together.  I cut half an inch off the sides, and an inch off the bottom, for a total of 2 cuts at $.75 each.
