New Hat

What's this?  A traditional paper scrapbook page?  Wow! Haven't seen one of those in a while huh?  I am actually on a roll with my paper scrapbooking lately.  I was going to scan the photo's into my computer, but then I decided to use some of my fabulous paper that I love so much.  This paper is great for me because it has a more masculine feel to it, and most of my paper tends to be girly.  This paper is called Well Worn and is currently on the Clearance Rack at the Stampin' Up! store at more than 50% off so it was a steal.  I paired it with a base of Crumb Cake.  To distress my background I got out a tool I often forget about, my Color Spritzer (#107066 $12.95 page 179).  I spritzed some Early Espresso onto my paper.

You just attach a marker to the spritzer and squeeze the bulb.  Simple.
To make the pennants, I measure to the center of the paper and use a pencil to draw a line up however long I want the tails to go.  Then you just snip from the each corner to the center.

I used the Argyle Embossing folder to add some texture to the Marina Mist Heart and Pennant.
I used a sponge and some Crumb Cake in to add some color to the embossed paper.
I use a ruler and pencil to lightly make my journaling lines.  I erase them once I am finished writing.

The new Natural Ribbon Trim (#129287 $6.95 in spring mini catalog page 20) is the perfect accent, I probably should have used more. Love it. I attached it with a Vintage Trinket safety pin (#118765 $5.95 page 175).
Here is the paper! Great Deal!!  Love the clearance rack!

Sweet Threads kit

The new spring seasonal catalog is filled with fun kits at great prices.  I thought I would show off my favorite kit today.  It is super cute and easy and I am not a sewer at all.  This kit is called Sweet Threads Simply Sent kit.  It comes with 8 cards and envelopes, as well as thread, dimentionals and cross stitch card embellishments.  I made them while watching the news.  A great wind down activity.

Here is a picture of what comes in the kit.  Even the needle is included.  You can purchase the kit as shown for just $12.95, or as a Bundle with a stamp set called "Essentials"  that includes the Happy Birthday and Thank you I used in the pictured cards, for just $16.95.  If you already have a lot of sentiment stamps, you can just use those.  The colors in the kit are Primrose Petals and Lucky Limeade, so I used those colors for the ink, but you could also use a Basic Black or Grey or Chocolate Chip ink.  Remember, it's called "Simply Sent", so keep it simple and use what you have if you can.  When you're finished with the kit, you've used up all the pieces, so no left overs to deal with.  All the instructions are included.
I made a few exactly as shown on the kit cover, but then I added some more embellishments to a few too.  And, as a tip, I also separated the thread in half.  You don't have to do this, they give you plenty and you will have a bit left over, but I thought the thread was a little thick and so you don't see the cross stitch detail as well, and the kit instructions mentioned that you could separate the thread into two if you wanted more detail, so I did and liked the look better.  Here is are some close ups so you can see what I mean.
Here is the thread as it comes.

Here sis the thread separated.
The thread on the left is the separated one.   I run the separated thread over a glue stick to help it stay together better.  I just lightly hold it against a glue stick and pull the thread along so it all gets just a tiny bit.  I used my left over thread to make bows on a few of the cards.
I used the Bitty Buttons and co-ordinating Itty Bitty Punch Pack to make a cute cupcake embellishment.

Here I used a Lucky Limeade brad and a scrap of Lucky Limeade Ribbon to add some more detail.

Here I used the Itty Bitty punch and a Rhinestone on my cupcake.
And here are my cards all finished and ready to go! So cute and so Simple Sent!

Check out the kit on page 22 of the Spring Catalog.

Feel Goods

I really like this new stamp set from the Spring Seasonal catalog.  It is called Feel Goods and is full of bold sentiments that make me smile, or  "Feel Good".  I used it in yesterdays post as well.  This time I paired it up with some of the Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  The paper is FREE with a $50 order.  Colors on this first version are Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, and Rich Razzleberry.

This second card uses Pool Party & Sahara Sand cardstock, and Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, and Rich Razzelberry ink.   I cut the ovals out with the new Ovals Collection Framelit Dies - LOVE those, and I added a button from the Sale-A-Bration button and ribbon pack.

This card, and the first one, both use the exact same paper, but just the flip side.  One side has big bold geometric patterns, and the other side has smaller softer patterns.  Pick the side to fit your mood :)

Feel Goods Stamp Set item # 129684 clear $18.95

item number 129381 $26.95

Can you see how used up my cutting plates are! Yikes, I think I need to get some more!

Bloomin' Marvelous

Today's cards all feature the Stamp Set Bloomin' Marvelous.  This pretty set is very versatile and I love the sentiment "So glad we're here for each other".   I have used a few other Sale-A-Bration items in the cards as well.  The Papers are from the Sycamore Street designer Series Paper- love the colors and patterns.  I used Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo and Pool Party for these cards.  AND, the buttons and ribbon are also from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  I love that the catalog has such a nice variety.  Stamps, paper, ribbon, and buttons.  There is even a punch and embossing folder!  Love it!

This card also uses the Feel Goods Stamp set for the sentiment and I saw one like it at Splitcoast Stampers.  I liked it and had to make one too. The original was by Deena Boos, here.

It is time to SALE-A-BRATE

It is once again Sale-A-Bration time!  Every year at this time Stampin' Up! has a special mini catalog, and when you spend $50.00 you can choose something from the catalog for FREE.  This years offerings are super cute.  The Designer Series Paper is really great,  and there is a matching Ribbon and Button pack too.  And there is a paper punch and an embossing folder as well as several stamps sets, all exclusive to this sale.  On top of all that, there are a few things you can choose from the regular big catalog as well.
YEA!!
I was playing around with a few of the products this weekend.  The stamps, papers and buttons are all fome from the Sale-a-Bration brochure.  This set is called Patterned Occasions.  Very cute!
Here is the ribbon and button pack!

And the paper pack!

Oh, Hello

The first stamp set in the new Spring Seasonal catalog is Oh, Hello and I really like it.  The sentiments are nice and BIG, and I really like the chevrons too, although I didn't use them today.  These cards use a few other favorites from the new catalog too, the new Honeycomb Embossing Folder and the new Designer Builder Brads.

This first card uses the flower stamp as a background behind the Sentiment.  I layered a paper doily behind the sentiment for some added texture. I also used some white craft ink to distress the edges of the card base.  The patterned paper is from Tea for Two.

This card uses the designer Builder Brads, page 12.  A Builder Brads lets you add a paper center to the brad to match your project.  I really like the look of the matching brad, and once you've added the paper, you put an included epoxy bubble on top to finish it off.   So pretty.

Quick post today, I need to get my paper cut for class tomorrow!!

I Love a Bargain

I am sure I have mentioned how much I love the Clearance Rack.  I always find a great deal.  Well, I recently placed a nice tidy order from the clearance rack and I thought I would show you.  This great scrapbook was just $5.99 and I bought the ribbon on the clearance rack too a while back.  I bought the scrapbook because I have a lot of photos that are not digital, and I thought of scanning them, but decided to use some of the thousands of sheets of paper I already own to make some nice scrapbooks :)  There are also other styles on the clearance rack.  There is one called "Cute Christmas" which was actually badly named because it is not Christmas themed, it was just named that because it has co-ordinating paper that was in fact for Christmas.  I used it last year for an end of year scrapbook for the pre-school teacher. It turned out very cute! And there are also extra pages on sale too, in case the included pages are not enough.
here is the one I made for the teachers using the "Cute Christmas" album.
And, I used another one of my favorite things on this album My Digital Studio!  See the cute tag?  I used my digital studio to create it.  The crayons are a digital stamp and so is the A+, and I added the teachers name in a text box and on the inside I used MDS to make the front page with the class photo and a paragraph or two about the year.   The children then each designed a page.  For my latest album I used My Digital Studio to make the text boxes.  I often don't like my hand writing, so I decided to do it on the computer.  And, I used some co0ordinating stamps to put behind the text at 30% opacity to add some depth, and I also cut out some enlarged stamps for some embellishments.
You can see the leaf image behind my journaling and the leaf image I cut out and added to my page.

Check out the Clearance Rank and see what treasures you can find!
