I'm going on Vacation

Hi Everyone!! I am headed to Hawaii with my husband for our 20th anniversary!!  YEA!!  I will be back on August 7th to answer any questions you may have.  Go to my Stampin' Up! store to see any new promotions that begin August 1st, as I wont be able to post them here until I get back.  In the meantime, check out my Hawaii inspired card!  Not that I've ever been to Hawaii, so I don't know what sort of inspiration I will get :)

The set I used is called Summer Silhouettes.  I added a bit of dazzling Diamonds to some of the flowers.  Colors used, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, and Gumball Green.

Alien Surprise!

Remember the Pop-Up Birthday card from last week?  Well, I thought I would make one for a little boy, and decided on the Blast off stamp set instead of the cake and balloons.  Its so cute!  I actually don't have the Blast Off stamp set in real life, but I do have it in My Digital Studio!  I used it for Zachary's party favors last year.   If there is a set that you think is cute, but that you don't thing you'll use much, consider getting the Digtal stamp!

Here it is open!  See that cute Alien that popped up?  Too fun!!

I made the planet just like I did the cheese a few days back, with circle punches, sponged to give more detail.

I made the silver frame by cutting a rectagle out of Silver Glimmer Paper, then using the new Squares collection framelits to cut out the center.  First do one side.

Then move the framelit over to finish cutting out your center.  I used the scraps to punch out starts.  The start punch is from the Merry Minis punch pack, which is not in the catalog, but is still available (item # 126882)

I printed out a sheet of digital stamps, then cut them out to make my cards.
The great thing about digital is that you can resize your stamps to any size you want!! Check out my digital blog to see more about using digital stamps.

Party Hat

Birthday Party hat Party Favors!!  Another one of the projects from Stamp Camp a few weeks back.
We used the Sketched Birthday stamp set to make the cute Happy Birthday banner at the bottom and the hat at the top, but the star here is the paper.  The Birthday Basics paper  was the inspiration for the hat treat holder.  I've made this shaped holder many times, but it was just perfect for the hats.

The triangle box  is really simple, and you can get two from one sheet of 8 1/2 by 11 cardstock.
Cut your cardstock in half the long way.
Score the pieces at 5 1/2.  Actually you can score the 5 1/2 before you cut so that they are both done at once.
Place a piece in your paper trimmer and make a tiny score mark at the half way point, or 2 1/8 inch at the top and bottom of the piece.  Now you are going to score from that  mark to the 5 1/2 score line.  Just line the points up with the cutting track of your trimmer and score.  Hard to explain in words for me, so hopefully you get it from the pictures.

It's hard to see the score lines in the photo, but look closely here and at the finished box and you'll get the idea.

Cut a patterned piece of paper at 4 by 5 1/4.  Now make a mark at the half way point at the top (2 inches).  Cut from the halfway point to the bottom corner as shown in the next picture.

Attach your patterned paper to the front of your box.  Its easier to decorate the front now when the box is flat.

 Fold up your box.

Punch a hole into the side.  Then fold up the other side and punch a hole.

Thread your ribbon through the top flap bottom flap, bottom flap top flap.  Fill your box with candy or what ever you like, then tie a bow.

Yea!  your box is done.  Finish decorating any way you like.

I used the Birthday Basics paper and "Sketched Birthday" stamp set for my project.  The colors are summer starfruit, gumball green, and raspberry ripple.

Chalk Board Cake

This is another one of the cards from the Birthday Stamp Camp.  Again we used the Sketched Birthday stamp set.   To mimic the look of a chalk board I used Basic Black cardstock, which I rubbed with the Embossing buddy to make it look like it had been used and erased on several times.   The embossing buddy is really used to get static off of your paper before you use embossing powder, to get a cleaner embossed line and less little stray bits of embossing on your project.  I love it when things can be used for multiple purposes, in this case, making a chalk board.

Next we stamped our images.  One of the great things about the cling mount stamps is that you can put more than one stamp onto an acrylic block, here we lined the Happy Birthday right onto the block underneath the cake.  We used White Craft ink, which is a bit more wet than the standard ink, and takes longer to dry.  To speed up the drying, we used the Heat tool to heat set the ink.

We made the frame in Summer
Starfruit by cutting out a square with the new Squares Collection Framelits.  We adhered the black square under the frame , then added a ribbon and attached it to the card.
The Addition of the Washi tape is just for fun!

The patterned paper is from the Birthday Basics paper pack.  Paper packs are still Buy 3 get 1 FREE!! until July 31st! go to my Stampin' Up! store to get more details and to order.

Birthday Pop -Up!

Who doesn't love a fun pop-up card?  They are just so fun to get even more fun to make!
This is another card that we made at my Birthday Stamp camp last Saturday.  The stamp is from "Sketched Birthday".   The paper is from Birthday Basics.  Paper is Buy 3 get 1 FREE!! by the way.  Go to my store for more details on that great sale.

When you open the card, the balloons pop up!!  How fun is that?  Love it!!
Where did I get those punched balloons do you ask?  Are you thinking I used some non- Stampin' Up contraband?  Never!!  :)  I used the small oval punch for the roundish part of the balloon, and the feet from the owl punch for the little rubber bottom of the balloon.

The tutorial for this card can be found here at Splitcoast Stampers.

More Giggle Greetings

Hi!  I wanted to show you the other card we made with Giggle Greetings at Saturday's Stamp Camp.  I really like this little cat, too funny!  I was going to give this card to my sister, who's birthday is coming up, but I'll have to come up with another one because I know she looks at this blog (Hi Amy).
This card is pretty simple, just stamp in Stazon ink and color your kitty in.  Here I used Summer Starfruit and a tiny bit of Crisp Cantaloupe in his ears and on his tongue.  I added a tiny bit of Summer Starfruit ribbon to the top corner, and some Paper Piercing for a little something extra.

That strip of peaked chevron paper is from the Etcetera paper pack.  By the way, paper packs are currently buy 3 get 1 FREE!!!

The Cheese Stands Alone

I love the silly new stamps in the Giggle Greetings stamp set.  So fun and totally different from the pretty and frilly cards I usually make.  This card was one we made Saturday at Stamp Camp.  We stamped the main image with Stazon ink onto Very Vanilla card stock, then cut it out using the Windows collection framelits.  We used blender pens to color in the image.  I like blender pens because you can get nice tones and shadows.   We also used the Paper Piercing tool and mat, as well as the "festive" template to add the piercing in the corners.

I love how the templates match the framelits.  Paper piercing is so easy and it adds a extra something to the project.

I created the look of cheese with circle punches on some Summer Starfruit paper.  I sponges around the circles and also on the Soft Sky stripes to make them stand out a bit more.

A bit of Dazzling Details on the candle flame adds some fun sparkle.

Love and Joy

I am still in Christmas mood here!  This time I used the Love & Joy stamp.  This stamp is Big and Bold!  I used my Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive markers to ink it up.  I then cut it out with the new "Deco Labels Collection" dies.  I added a Cherry Cobbler circle around the main image with the "Circle Collection Dies" and framed it all up with a larger size Deco Label in Old Olive.  The yummy Cherry Cobbler ribbon is also from the Holiday Catalog.

I punched holes in the sides of the main image to thread the ribbon through.

The main image is popped up with dimensionals.

Another Snowman!

I made another fun Snowman card!  This time I used the snowman's body stamp too.  I stamped the body in Craft white ink onto Crumb Cake paper and added all the other stamps right on top.  This stamp set is really fun.  You get the snowman's body, as well as other little stamps to make your scene, such as his face, arms, buttons, nose, hats, stocking, scarf, star and a tiny heart.  Love it!  I  made the crumb cake piece into a tag and attached a hanger by punching out a piece of cherry cobbler paper with the modern label punch.  A button and some baker's twine finished off the tag.  See that cute paper?  Love it!  It's from the new Holiday catalog and it's called Season of Joy.  You will love this paper.  The colors are my all time favorite Christmas combo: Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler.  The patterns are great too, chevrons, dots, stripes and a perfect Christmas plaid.  Perfect!

Christmas in July

My Holiday Catalog order arrived!  YEA!  It's Christmas in July around here!   The Holiday Catalog goes live  on August 1st!  And, when I say "live", I really mean "Live"!  There is a new feature that allows you to see the products in action with your smart phone and the "Layar app", a free app at the Apple app store and Google Play!!  You can see videos and product information!!  Fun!

There really wasn't much snow last year, and I didn't get to make a single snowman, so the first stamp that got inked up was the new Snowman set called "Snow Day".   I used my circle punches to make the snowman's body.  I stamped some of the little snowflakes in the background and added glitter to their centers.  There is also some glittery snow along the bottom.  I added a pop of color with the red in the hat, and the red pennant at the top.
Quick post and I'm off to do laundry! Fun!

Thank You Washi!

I really like Washi Tape.  I know I've said it before but it is so fun to add the cute patterns and colors to my projects, and so fast!!  Washi is easy to use,  easy to punch through and use dies with!  For this card I simply used a few strips of Washi Tape on a piece of  Whisper White paper.  I then used my Hearts Collection dies and my small heart punch to cut out an assortment of hearts.   I added a few Rhinestones for some bling.
To make a matching envelope, I adhered strips of Washi Tape to the flap, trimmed the edges, and done!
