Birthday Memories Z-Fold card

Hi Everyone!  Today I want to share this fun Z-Fold card that I saw on the display boards at the Minneapolis OnStage event in April.I thought it was so cute and made one as soon as I got home and realized that I didn't have a photo of it.  The paper is the star on this card, the only stamping is the "it's your big day!" on the pennant.

The card stands up and will make any kid smile when they open it.

There is a lot of fussy cutting to be done, but it is worth the effort in the end.  Luckily there are dies to cut out a few of the pieces.

I made a quick how to video with measurements.  I hope you like it!

Doily Mask Watercoloring

Hi Everyone!  Today I have a project to share based on a viewer request.  A couple years ago I made a card like this (here is that post) and recently I was asked for some instruction.  I was undecided as to what to blog about next, so I decided to go ahead and remake that card using some newer products.
These cards both use doilies as a stencil, and an Aqua Painter to add the ink, giving the backgrounds a fun almost tie dye look.
I used the new Berry Burst, Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist colors, a new favorite combination.

This first card uses the whole doily as a stencil.
The Thank You is from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set.  Ribbon is the Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.

On this second card, I only applied ink to the edges of the doily.  The Paintbrush stamp and sentiment are from the Crafting Forever stamp set.
Ribbon is the Berry Burst and Fresh Fig 1/2 inch Finely Woven Ribbon.

When you are finished using your doily as a mask, you can then use it as an embellishment!  The background here is made with the Sparkle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I added some bits of Gold Glimmer paper and Ribbon accents.

I made a quick video to show you step by step how to do this technique. Check it out!

Lemon Zest

Hi Everyone!  I have a new project to share today!! Yay! I made this last week and I am finally able to get it photographed and posted.
I just love it when a stamp set has a matching paper punch! I can't resist, and they always make it onto my first orders! How about you? Same?  And when they are bundled at a special price, well that just makes it even better!
This stamp set and Bundle, the Lemon Zest Bundle, is super cute and just right for summer.  It is also a good one for my husband who happens to love lemonade, but Limeade even better!  And, who's birthday is in summer!

I used the Petal Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, which I think looks great with the leaves on the lemons.

I have a quick video if you would like to see  how to get the Happy Birthday Background shading or the whole card step by step.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Coffee Cafe stamp set, Painted with Real Coffee

Hi Everyone! I have a fun little card to share today.  I was super happy to see a coffee set in the new annual catalog and of course I had to add it to my first order. I am a Coffee addict! I have painted with coffee before, and knew I wanted to do it again with this new set.  The card even smells like coffee! Fun!
I started by stamping very lightly in crumb cake, then used a coffee paint I had made earlier.  To make the coffee paint, I added the last bit of coffee from the pot to a small watercolor paint pallet.  You can use a Styrofoam egg carton, a small saucer, ramekin, whatever.  Let it dehydrate, then add some more with your next  mornings coffee.  Do this for a few days and in the end you will have a little paint pot to use like a watercolor.

I love to watercolor, and using coffee is just another fun way to do it.  I first tried this in an adult art class I take while the kids are at school.  Shown here is a bigger coffee painting, and a little coffee comic I made in class last year.

I made a little video to show you step by step.  I hope that you will give it a try.
