Black Ice Technique with the Southern Serenade stamp set

Have you seen the Black Ice Technique? I keep seeing it and so I thought I would try it out.  The look is really pretty, sort of looks like an etching, and it is quite simple to do.
Most of the samples I have seen have been very dark, so I decided to lighten it up a bit with the Wisteria Wonder background and some white ribbon.  What do you think?
One of my friends brought this technique to a group meeting and we all thought it was fun, so then I brought it to a Stamp Camp and this is the card we did.  The place where my friend Linda saw this technique originally was from a demonstrator named Melissa Kerman, she has a lot of samples on her blog if you want to check them out.
I made a quick video for this technique if you would like to see it done step by step.  Check it out!

Don't forget, Sale-a-Bration is going on NOW! but it ends in just a few short days!  Where has the time gone?
You can check out all the Free Products you can earn with $50 or $100 orders by clicking here...

Stampin' on Shrinky Dink!

Hi everyone!  I recently hosted a group of little 8 and 9 year old girls at my house for a birthday party and one of the things we did was make jewelry out of shrink plastic and stamps. They made all sorts of things like the butterfly pictured and hand drawn images and other stamps.  It was so much fun that I thought I would do it again at Stamp Camp with my group.  Here is the card we made.

I used the butterfly from the Beautiful Day stamp set. It is a good size.  You have to remember to take into account how much the image is going to shrink when you work with Shrink plastic. Even the hole shrinks, so we used a 1/4 inch circle punch to add a hole in between the antenna so that we could attach the butterfly to the card.

At stamp camp we colored with Stampin' Write Markers, but the girls at the party used markers, as well as the watercolor pencils, which worked great.  The Orange and Yellow butterfly was make with the pencils.

They made hearts and pandas the most.

I made a video to show you how to use the shrink plastic with Stampin' Up! products.  It has lots of tips and tricks to I suggest checking it out...
I hope you will give it a try, it was lots of fun!
Sale-a-Bration only has a few more days! Get a Free Sale-a-Bration item with every $50 you spend, and I am sweetening the deal in March by giving all purchasers in March a chance to win some of my stash! As a demonstrator I end up with lots of extra Sale-a-Bration items, and so I will share them with you.  I will pull three names out of a hat and if chosen you can choose one of my extra Sale-a-Bration items. Easter Projects

Hi Everyone! I was off to the sunny Bahamas (the photos is my breakfast view each morning) and I had scheduled some posts to go up while I as gone.  It looks like most of them when up on my Facebook page, but not so much here on the blog. I must have done something wrong. Ah well, I was relaxing and so I will keep that relaxed attitude now that I am home and not stress about it!  Here are the projects that were supposed to go up.  Perhaps they will give you some Easter inspiration!

First up is the Easter Egg card. I have made several of these over the years with various Easter stamp sets.  This one uses the current 'Hello Easter' set.

Inside is this cute little Easter Bunny and your greeting.  Inside white piece comes out of the pocket and you can write your message and sign it at the bottom.

Video how to for this card uses a set from last year, but the idea is the same and the measurements and how you put it together are the same.

Next up is this fun card that makes me think of a Hollow Easter Egg.  You could switch up the stamp sets for this one as well so that you can use the Hello Easter set or the 'A Good Day' set.

And lastly, one of my favorite paper baskets, the 2, 4, 6 basket.  Easy to make and so pretty!  Fill it with some Easter treats for someone you love!

Don't forget, we are in the final days of Sale-a-Bration!! Contact me with any questions or for help placing an order.

My first attempt at the Stamparatus

Hi everyone! Well, my Stamparatus is in the house and I thought I would share a video to show you how it's going.  I have never used a tool like this before, so I think it will take some time to get used to but I can see where it will be helpful with certain stamp sets and with classes or Card Buffets, or when Christmas comes around and I am making multiples of the same card.
I intended the video to be quick, but's its not. I didn't want to edit out anything because I wanted it to be an actual trial so you can see it all, where I made mistakes, how I fixed them and what all the Stamparatus can do.  I hope that you find the video informative.
The Stamparatus will be available to customers in the new catalog that comes out in June or who knows, if they get more stock in, they may do a pre-release again, which is how I got mine.

I want to plug joining Stampin Up! again real quick before you watch the video, because when the new catalog comes out in June, you can buy it and all the new products from yourself, at a discount, some early releases in May and its just an all around great time to do it!  You'll be one of the first to know what's coming, what's on special and get all the deals.  During Sale-a-Bration you get the starter kit (ANY $125 worth of products for just $99 and FREE SHIPPING) Plus you get two extra any price stamp sets free!  There is only a  month of Sale-a-Bration left, and you'll want to join during Sale-A-Bration because you can get a first demo order in if you want to, so you can get your discount and the free Sale-a-Bration items. You know how you need to spend $50 to get a Free Sale-a-Bration item? Well, with your discount that is only $40 and so on goes the savings.  You don't need to sell or 'Demonstrate'  you can be what we call a "Happy Stamper" or a "Smart Shopper" or a "Hobby Stamper".  Contact me if you have any questions.  or watch my join video, located under my blog header.

Now, onto my first attempts at the Stamparatus.

Lift the flap card

Hi Everyone!  Have you seen the new  stamp set 'Dad Jokes'? I thought it was super cute and I haven't seen a lot of samples so I thought I would throw one out there.
I  used the joke about the pizza.  My daughter learned this joke in Kindergarten and told it to us over and over again for days, maybe weeks.  It comes up every now and then.  It says "I would tell you a joke about pizza, but its a little cheesy".  It's also good for our family because I will occasionally say that something is cheesy and my husband, when we first met, had never heard people say that.  He is not from the Chicago area, he is from Des Moines.  It's funny how some phrases are only in spotted areas across the country.  My niece was at the zoo with me once and said she wanted to find the "bubbler" and I thought it was some sort of animal but it turned out she was looking for the drinking fountain.  Anyway, back to the card :)

I wanted it to be a lift the flap card because I thought that worked best for a joke so I came up with this design.  I used my Layering Squares Framelit dies to make the flap.  It's really pretty simple and I made a video to show you how to do it.

Now the stamp set says that it is for Dads, but you can easily use it for other people in your life.  I think kids like jokes and that this would be a fun stamp set for young boys.  If you use a marker to ink up the sentiment 'Happy Birthday, Dad' you could just ink the happy birthday and you are good to go.

I love the little pizza too! I used my blender pens and ink pads to color it in.  Blender pens allow you to get a softer look with the ink and you can do a little blending to make the crust or cheese look more like crust or cheese :)
You can see that on the video as well.
