Flip-Flap card

Hi Everyone, Today I want to show you a fun card with a little motion to it.  When you pull the tab, the front panel flips open to reveal a second panel hidden beneath it.
Isn't that fun?  I think so!  Watch the video below to see it in action and to learn how to make it.

These are the basic sizes of cardstock you will need to create the card, plus a card base.
The 4 3/4 by 3 1/2 piece of designer series paper needs to be punched in the center with the Designer label punch. Push is in as far as it will go, then punch.  It wont be perfectly center but this is OK.

This piece needs to be scored at 2inches and 2 1/2 inches, then the end farthest from the score lines needs to be punched with the tag topper punch.

Fold it on the 2 1/2 inch score line.

attach your first square right up to that 2 inch score line.

add some adhesive on the remaining part between the 2 and 2 1/2 inch score lines.

Place your larger panel on top of  the smaller one, right up to that fold line, adhering only on the little space where you added adhesive in the photo above.

unfold the tab piece and add a strip of adhesive just on the edge, under the smaller square.

Slide the tag topper piece through the slot in the Designer Series Paper Piece as shown.

move the panel piece around a bit until it is where you want it, centered and with the tab sticking out just a bit on the side.  If the tab is sticking too far out, it wont fit into the envelope, so I had it come out to just barely with the hole showing for the ribbon. Once you have it where you want it, press down on the area where you put the adhesive.  Adhesive should be only sticking to the designer series paper, just slightly to the left of where your ribbon hole is.

Now you are ready to attach all of that to your card base.  Remember to to add any adhesive to the tab piece, it should slide freely.  Add some ribbon to the tab so that your recipient will know to pull.

  2. This is just too cool!Great video and great photos too. I just mailed a card for a swap and now I wish I would have seen this first and done one of these. Oh well, I need a male birthday card so maybe I can play with the tool set and make something work! Thanks again for great directions. Love it!

  3. Beth, I just came across this card on Pinterest, and I absolutely love it. Can't wait to get back in my craft room to make some for Valentine's Day and Birthday, and who knows which other ones. Your tutorial was so very easy to follow. Thank you for all the measurements on each piece. I think that is what I am going to do to make myself a template for this card & some of my other favorite 'fancy fold' cards!

    1. Hi Nanci! So glad you like it. Funny, I was just making a redo of this card to work with the new "Dad Jokes" stamp so the punch line is revealed when you pull the ribbon.
Hope you have fun making them! Share them with me on my bethspapercuts facebook page if you like. I would love to see what you come up with!

    1. I've made this card with many different sizes, even rectangles. The card in this post used 2 5/8 and 2 1/8. Click on the photo under the video and the photo will enlarge for you to see the measurements closer.
