I love coloring and playing with different coloring mediums, so I was very excited to see Soft Pastels in the new Annual Catalog. Stampin' Up! has sold pastels in the past, but they were in a very large assortment and therefor a little more expensive, but super fun. This new offering is smaller, in Stick form, and less expensive than in the past. It's a fun set to add some new techniques to your stampin repertoire.
I plan on a series of projects with the new pastels through out the next couple weeks.
First up, using the pastels to create a background. I love making a sunset, so I thought of the Sailing Home stamp set and the beautiful sailboats.
I used the masking technique to cover areas of the project that I didn't want the pastels to go.
I added the color to the card by using the sticks directly on the paper. I then used a sponge dauber to gently rub the pastels in.
