Old School Poppin' Pastels technique with the new Soft Pastels from Stampin' Up!

Do you remember the Poppin' Pastels technique?  Is so, you've been stamping for quite a while.  If not, you are in for some new fun!

In the latest Annual Catalog, Stampin' Up! added Soft Pastels to the line up of coloring mediums.  I love when new things are added and this was a throw back to when I first started stamping.  In the past, the pastels were in a different form, small squares in a pallet of all the colors.  This time the pastels are in stick form, but we can still do similar things with them. I knew I needed to try the Poppin' Pastels technique, and in particular, with trees!

Do  you remember the Lovely as a Tree stamp set? I did a card with Poppin' Pastels and Lovely as a Tree at one of my very first Stamping events!  This card reminds me of the card from that event.

The Poppin' Pastels technique has you add an image in Versamark, which is a clear but sticky pad that we normally use for Embossing Powder. With the pastels, when you add the chalk powder to the image stamped in Versamark, the powder sticks to the Versamark and the image will appear.  The video below shows how to do this step by step.

I added the pastels to the trees for a nice fall leave look.   I also added some gold embossing for some glitz.

The background Designer Series Paper is from the In Good Taste paper.  I used Fine Art Ribbon with it's flecks of gold to add even more fancy to my card.

For this next card I used the Color and Contour stamps and dies.  The dies for this bundle are AMAZING!!

Card base here is Misty Moonlight.

Look at all the fun scalloped dies! so many sizes for all your needs.  And I love that edge die!

This last example uses the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set.  I wanted to try it on something BIG.

The image is layered on Granny Apple Green and the card base is Gorgeous Grape.

Sentiment is cut with the Double Oval punch.
