WHOOOO will owl be next?

I love the owl punch.  You may have guessed that based on my blog headers.  Yesterday I showed you an owl I made into a Witch.  Fun right?  Well, when I make owls, I like to make a bunch of owl parts.  I feel if I am getting out all the papers strips, I may as well make more than just one set of those tiny eyes.  I keep eyes and things in an empty button container.  Making the witch was so much fun I decided to make a few other "costumes" for my little owl.  Here are a few...

 

The Ghost was fun, I used vellum to make him look see through.

I rounded the top of a rectangle with the large oval punch. I pushed the vellum through the back of the punch, leaving half out of the punch.  Next I used the Scallop oval punch to make the wavy bottom of the Ghost costume, also going through the back and leaving the rounded top out of the punch. 

 

I laid the costume over the owl to mark where to punch out the eyes.

 

The cape on Super Owl was made the same way, only with the top of the scallop oval punch. .

 

This little devil was probably the easiest.  Simple punch out a red owl.  Cut off the feet  Cut off the ears and then flip them and glue them back on as horns.  To make the tail, put your red paper back into the punch, move it over the punched out body, then bump it slightly over...

Add the heart to the tip of the tail and your done.

Witches Broom

 

I made a bunch of these fun and easy Halloween treats this week.  I always have these little cello bags on hand, frankly I always have all the fun  SU cello bags on hand.  It's so easy to put together fun treats or party favors or little thank you's.  (there are some gusseted bags on the clearance rack right now by the way, a nice 5 x 3 x 11 1/2, great for Christmas cookies! 25 bags for $1.59)   These little skinny bags are fun with licorice, M&M's, pencils, or other skinny things.  I am not a fan of licorice, but I found Chocolate Twizzler's at Target the other day and knew I just had to make some witches brooms.   I made some a few years back and they were a big hit.  This year I added some new tags.  I saw an owl turned witch on SplitcoastStampers.com the other day, fun.  And we have a few fun Halloween themed stamps that worked great for the brooms as well. 

 

First I started with a piece of 5 1/2 by 2 1/4 cardstock in Crumb Cake, score at 1/2 inch.

I sponged the cardstock a bit, then cut fringes into the bottom, up to the score line. 

 I used glue dots to attach the paper to the cello bag.  Start off with one, then wrap a few times, add another glue dot, wrap some more, add a glue dot, wrap, add a glue dot at the end.

I used some retired black thread to tie around the broom. Bakers twine or linen thread would work great too. 

This witch is from the Halloween Hello stamp set. Here I embossed the witch on a Summer Starfruit, to look like she is flying in front of the moon.

On this one I used a mask to add a sponged moon behind the witch.

This bat was made with the butterfly punch and the scallop circle punch.

This hat is from the Best of Halloween stamp set.

Candy Corn and Pencils work great too!

Last Day of the Butterfly Bundle

I have a My Digital Studio post for you today!

My Grandmother celebrated her 95th birthday this summer!  She is the mot wonderful grandma, everything you think of when you think of grandma.  Great cook, great bedtime story teller,  always a positive word and a smile.  As you can see I could not get all the great grandkids to stand still and smile to take a group photo.  I took about 15 takes of this photo, and in the first 12 there is always someone looking down or the baby is wiggling out of her lap, or the balloon was in front of Tuckers face.  In the last 3 they were just completely out of control, so instead of trying to decide which one was the best, I decided to pick the one that was the craziest.  Honesty in Scrapbooking!
I used the Fan Fair download for the papers and embellishments on this page.  I've used it before in a  lot of pages I make of my mom, I'm hoping to put them together in a book, someday!  There are just too many pages I want to put in there, I may never get done!  I used the Sketch from MDS Monday to make this page.  Some of my regular readers know that I am part of the challenge team over at MDS Monday, but some of you may not, so I like to let my paper readers know every once and a while.  And, if you haven't tried digital scrapbooking before, why not give it a try?  I am happy to help, and there are numerous places to get online help as well, such as my "Beth's digital cuts" blog, the MDS Monday blog, and the MyDigitalStudio.net site.

Spooky Luminary

I made this fun luminary for Halloween this week!  I was playing around with ideas for next weeks stamp camp and I'm trying to focus on fall.  This luminary is really simple and it uses the "Best of Halloween" stamp set.  Each side has a different stamp.  I stamped the images onto vellum with versa mark ink, then embossed them with black embossing powder. 
Where did I get the orange glimmer paper?  did I actually use non-Stampin' Up! products?  No way!  I used silver glimmer paper which I them painted with some re-inker and my aqua painters. 

I cut the circles out with my circles dies, then used the re-inker on them.  They did dry a little lighter than I wanted so when I make them again I will do two coats. 

Do you like my little bat?  I made him with the butterfly that is included in the butterfly bundle!  I punched out some butterflies and then tried a variety of my scalloped punches on it to see what I liked best.  I decided that the best one was the 7/8 scallop circle.  It was really hard to punch the scallop out of that tiny butterfly, so I used a post it note to hold onto the butterfly as I punched. 

It's hard to see in the picture since the paper is black, but I placed the butterfly in the punch until I could see the whole bottom wing and the start of the top bump of the upper wing.

Then I used my gel pen to add some eyes. 

Here is a picture of it glowing in the dark.  Fun right?

Here are some measurements.  Cut a piece of 12 x 12 cardstock in half.
Score at 2 3/4, 5 1/2, 8 1/4, 11. 
Turn and score at 1 3/4.
cut the flaps, completely cut off the tiny rectangle at the bottom.
