MDS Blog Hop - January "what are we working on?"

It's the Forth Thursday of the month and that means this is the MDS Blog Hop Thursday, where we showcase "what we are working on".  You may have just hopped over here from Cori Kozak's blog where I am sure you saw something fabulous!  Hopefully you will "hop" though all ten of our blogs and be inspired all along the way.  We are a group if MDS users who really love creating with MDS and want to show you all that it can do!
On to "What I'm working on!"   Valentines!!   I wanted to get these printed and put together on time for once!! No more last minute the day before the class party for me!  Here is what I made for my daughter Jillian to bring to school.
I made this proto-type 5 by 7.  I will make the printed ones 3 1/2 by 5 instead.  I think they will fit in the kids Valentine boxes better that way.

I had Jillian stand with her arm outstretched and added the bow.  Once I printed out my card, I used a hole punch to add the holes for the lollipop!  I will have Jillian sign the backs.  Can't wait to get them back from SU and put them together!!

But wait, there's more!!
Those would not be Mailable, so I decided to make a different one for the out of state family.
Some digital flowers are just the thing!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you continue to Hop onto Holly's Blog and see what she is working on!   I'm sure you'll be inspired!!

Alien Love

I love the look of this little alien!  Too Cute!  She is from the Monstermaniacs stamp set, available only online.  I am loving the papers in the Fresh Prints paper stack and I used two patterns on this card.  I used colors from the papers to color in my alien, Coastal Cabana and Real Red.  I also added some Crystal Effects to the Three eyes just for fun.  The tags were cut out with the  Chalk Talk Framelit dies (so fun) and tied with some stitched Real Red ribbon and bakers twine.

See the shine on the eyes?  That's the Crystal Effects.  I've owned that for awhile now, but I sort of forgot about it.  I recently got it out and it is just so fun to add to my projects.

The Alphabet is from the ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet stamp set.

Simple Mailable Monday Birthday Card

Happy Monday!  I am keeping it simple on Mondays these days and this card is very simple.   I started with the new Countless Sayings 2 Photo-polymer stamps.   I have to say that once I decided to try the Photo-polymers out, I really do like them.  They make lining up so easy, and the cost is plus too!  I stamped the Happy onto the Whisper White card stock, but also onto a scrap piece of  DSP from the I Am Me paper pack.  I cut the letters out and glued them onto the white piece.   They look really great in person, almost pop off the page a bit.  I added some fun stars in the colors of the patterned paper, also from the I Am ME paper pack.  I added a couple rhinestones for some bling.  Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy as my children would say :)
Here is another version...
Well, that's all for today! There is no school today and we are off to a Cub Scout outing to Medieval Times.   I hope you enjoy your day!

Countless Sayings 2  #135893  $13.95

Countless Sayings 1  #135892   $13.95

New My Paper Pumpkin Special

Stampin' Up! is offering a new "My Paper Pumpkin" special.  Subscribe to My Paper Pumpkin between January 11 and February 10th and you will receive a FREE set of 2012-2014 In-Color Stampin' Write Markers, a $14.95 value, with your welcome kit.

In case you haven't heard of My Paper Pumpkin I will tell you a little bit about it.  My Paper Pumpkin is a monthly kit that is delivered to you each month for a flat rate of $19.95.  That price includes shipping.  Kits go out on the 15th of each month, and you can cancel your subscription, or skip a month,  without penalty, just let them know by the 10th so they can stop your shipment.  Join between now and February 10th to get the February kit.  Payments are not processed until the shipment goes out.   In your welcome kit you get a clear block with your kit, this is to use on all future kits as well.  All the kits have a stamp set, an ink spot or two, and a fun project for you to complete.  The welcome kits are all the same and are pictured here.  After the welcome kit, you will get a surprise.  Last month we got a fun memory book project, we've also gotten card projects and birthday projects.  In November we received a pretty Christmas card project.    The stamps in the My Paper Pumpkin kits are exclusive to the kits and you will end up with a nice collection of fun stamps to use on your own creations.  The welcome kit, for example, has a nice splatter stamp that I have used many times to create a fun background.   The ink spot colors have been varied too, so you will also end up with a nice collection of Stampin' Up! ink colors to play with.

My Paper pumpkin is a fun monthly escape, you don't need to own anything extra except an adhesive of your choice, and you don't have to have a craft room of craft supplies.  You get a stash of handmade cards and projects to use throughout the year, without the fuss.   These are great gifts, too.  I think a creative college student might enjoy them, they don't have a lot of space for fun crafty things so this is just the ticket.

You need to join My Paper Pumpkin at the home site, there is a button on my blog to the right.  Don't forget to say your demonstrator is Elizabeth Rush :)  Contact me if you have any questions!   I am happy to help!

Just Sayin'

I love the new "Just Sayin'" stamp set from the new Spring mini catalog.  The speech bubbles are so much fun and there are matching Framelits Dies to cut them out, so I love them even more.  Both the stamps used on this card are from this set.  I used a marker to ink up the "Thanks" so that I would not get ink on the speech bubble part.  For this card I used the Framelits Die to cut out the thought bubble, but then I further cut out the image by getting rid of the extra white around the image.  Have you ever cut something out and sometimes you miss just slightly so you accidentally cut off some of the outline?  I do, and how I fix this is by using a marker around the edges.

I glued the stamped thought bubble back where it would have been in the opening.  Next I attached the white layer with dimensionals so that it would pop up of the striped layer.

You can get the stamp set alone or in a bundle with the matching Framelits Dies.
Stamps item # 133203 $18.95 (Clear)
                     #133200  $26.95 (wood)
Bundle Stamps and Dies #134820 $37.25 (clear)
                                       #134819 $43.95 (wood)

MDS Blog Hop ~ Desktop Screens

It's MDS Blog Hop time again!  Yippeee!  I have been snuggled up in a blanket with my lap top these cold, cold days, so MDS has been a blessing for sure!  You may have hopped on over here from the fabulous Cori Kozak's blog, or maybe this is your first stop.  If you are new to the hop, please check out all 10 linked blogs to see all the different directions that the team has taken our theme this month.  What is the Theme?  Screens - computer or phone, take your pick.  It is so fun to make custom screens with MDS!  What's your favorite photo or quote?  Favorite stamp or paper?  Use it to create something unique, just for you to see every time you log on.  It's so easy, you can change it weekly, monthly, what ever suits you.
Here is what I made...

I used a quote from the "Be Awesome Today"  download.  I intend to change the quote from time to time, as well as the Washi tape.  I made the Washi tape by creating a thin photo box, then adding some paper.  Next I used the Rip Photo Edges feature to make the edges look like torn washi tape, and I changed the opacity level as well.
I left the left side intentionally clear of detail so that my desktop icons don't get in the way.  Here is what it looks like on my screen.

My son said he likes it better when the wallpaper changes every so often, so I made a few versions and they change on my screen about every 3 minutes.  Its super easy to make multiples with MDS! Just delete your stamp and add a different one.

What do you think? Check out the rest of the Hop by following the "next" button below!  You will be hopping on to Holly's blog, where you will surely be inspired to "create something everyday".  We hop on the second and forth Thursday each month, so we hope to see you often!!

Monstermaniacs

Did you know that there are stamp sets that are only available online?  Click on "Stamps" and you will see a secondary grouping with stamps grouped by catagories, including Photopolymer and online only stamps.  This stamp is from the set "Monstermaniacs" item #  134972 $14.95.  I thought it would fun for the boy birthday that I needed a card for.  I used my blender pens and Island indigo ink to color the monster in.  Next I cut the funny little guy out with my Chalk Talk Framelits Dies.  I attached the tag with some Island Indigo chevron ribbon to my card base.  The "Happy Birthday" banner is from Itty Bitty Banners.  I cut it out by hand and then added a matching silver glimmer banner behind it, that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits dies.  I also added some Crystal Effects to the monsters eyes.  This doesn't photograph too well, but in person it looks like he has googlie eyes attached to him.

Here are the rest of the fun little monsters.

Vivid Vases

Hi Everyone!  I hope you are all toasty warm on this cold cold day.  At least it's cold here in Illinois.  The kids were supposed to go back to school after a long winter break, but school was cancelled due to the cold.  BRRRRR!  I wonder if it's too cold for my pet cardinal to visit today.  My daughter and I have a cardinal that visits us.  He sits outside the window and chirps as we eat breakfast.  I started putting sunflower seeds out for him and he brought back his female friend.  Now we see them every day, but we did not see them yesterday and I doubt we will see them today.  Hopefully they are snuggled in their nest.  Anyway, since it is super cold I thought I would play around with the new Spring mini catalog. This stamp is called Vivid Vases.  It comes all by itself as a set of one.  The paper I used with it is called Fresh Prints and I LOVE that paper.  It is one of those 4 1/2 by 6 1/2 paper stacks with 4 each of 12 designs.  I seriously love the patterns and I kinda wish it was 12 x 12 because it would be nice for some larger projects too.  I can see myself hoarding some of this when the catalog ends!
I made this catalog with my new Mailable Monday idea in mind.   I kept it pretty simple with out any bulky ribbon or brads to hinder the mailing process or cause extra postage to be required.
I also used the paper in the vases.  I used a marker to ink up the desired vase and stamped it onto the patterned paper.  Then I cut it out and attached it to the card.  Pretty simple.

In this version I added some paper flowers and pearls to the vases.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Stay Warm!

New Year - New Stamps - New Paper!

Today is the day that the new Spring Mini Catalog begins!  Yea!  This catalog has some really fun new papers, stamps and dies!  Love it!  The first thing I wanted to use was the new Watercolor Wonder paper.  It is just so pretty!  These cards use the new paper as well as a new stamp set called Peaceful Petals.

This first card uses the Apothecary Framelits Dies to cut out the main image.  I spritzed the main image a bit with water before stamping it onto the paper.  It doesn't show up so much in the photo but you can really see the difference in real life.

The blurry lines look really nice on the soft watercolor looking paper.

I wanted the leaf to be tucked under the flower a bit, so I used some small Post-It notes to mask the flower before stamping.

I used regular tap water in the spritzers.   The spritzers are sold in pairs for just $2.95 and you can fill them with color or water.  Super fun, lots of bang for the buck.

The second card uses the same flower and leaf, but with out the spritzing.  I cut them out by hand and popped them up on Dimensionals above the Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon.

I used Smokey Slate ink on the Sentiments on both cards, I thought black was too strong for the soft paper.  They are also both mounted on Daffodil Delight Card Stock.

Thanks for stopping by today!
