Soft Seedlings stamp set with Sponging Technique

Hi everyone! Today I am thinking fall with the Soft Seedlings stamp set.  I love fall, it's my favorite season, and I always look for the new 'Leaf set' when the new mini catalog comes out.  Sometimes the new leaf set is a big one with lots of leaves and dies, sometimes it's whimsical, sometimes realistic, but there is always a new leaf set and I always get it!

This year the set is soft and pretty. The images are delicate without bold solid lines. I love the way it stamps.  I knew that the first card I made with it would have to be fall colored with reds and yellows. I decided to stamp with Cherry Cobber, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede.

The card Base is Very Vanilla Thick, stamped along the edge with the seed pod stamp.  I then added another layer of Very Vanilla, trimmed with a strip of Brushed Metallic foil in copper, for the main leaf image.

To get multiple colors on my image, I used sponge daubers to ink up the stamp.

I really wanted to use the new "Cut Leaf Labels and Amber Gems Combo Pack" so I added a leaf under the sentiment and some Gems around the main image.

The sentiment is embossed in copper and layered on a scrap of Brushed Metallic foil in copper.  I punched the end of the sentiment pieces with the Banners Pick a Punch.  A little bit of linen thread for a bow completed the card.

New Decorated with Happiness bundle with some watercolor techniques

Today I thought I would work a bit with the new Decorated with Happiness bundle from the July to December mini catalog. I signed up for a swap with this stamp set, so I figure I will make several different cards with it and then choose one to use for the swap.

Since July is Watercolor month, I decided to use some watercolor techniques on my card.

I really like this set. It has a fun look, like it was drawn with a marker or brush pen.  I like the images and the sentiments.  The dies for this set are really great too! I like that there are dies to cut out all the images, but also so many more extra images too, such at the bell, which would be great for not only Christmas but also weddings.

I started by wetting down the watercolor paper, then stamped the background images in Parakeet Party, letting them bleed out a bit. After that layer dried I stamped the more detailed pine images on top in Shaded Spruce.  I then sprayed the paper lightly with Stampin' Spritzers.

To make the ornaments I added some color to watercolor paper, then cut the ornaments out and swapped out the cut outs to give the ornaments multi colors.

I made a how to video for this card.

Here is another version that I made toned down a bit with less colors.

Customize your foil papers

Hi everyone! Today I want to show you how to customize the Silver and Gold Foil papers from the Sale-a-Bration catalog.  This paper is FREE with a $50 purchase only in July and August but you can do this with other foil papers too if you are seeing this after August :)

The pack comes with 24 6x6 sheets.  There are 6 gold dot sheets, 6 gold stripe sheets, 6 silver dot sheets and 6 silver stripe sheets.

I love packs like this because you can really customize them for any project.  Here I used soft colors but they would look striking with darks too.

For the stripped paper I used the light versions of Fresh Freesia, Soft Sea Foam and Pool Party Stampin' Blends.

For this card I stamped the images in black and then used the filler stamps to color the images in with Soft Sea Foam and Fresh Freesia.

For the dotted paper I used a Blending Brush to add Fresh Freesia and Soft Sea Foam ink to the paper. The beautiful foil dots still shine through.

For this card I stamped the images in Sazon on Shimmery White paper (this paper can hold watercolor techniques) and then used Water Painters to color in the images with Fresh Freesia and Soft Sea Foam ink.

Here is a close up of the watercolor. I didn't paint each individual petal but rather quickly added some darks and lights to give the bunch some depth.

See how to paint this image and customize the papers in my video.

The Hydragnea Haven stamp set is really great for that large Hydrangea but I also love the sentiments and that watercolor swatch stamp too!  The dies are really fun as well.
