Wild over Washi

I really like the new Washi Tape from Stampin' Up!  I'm a Stampin' Up! purist so I have never used Washi before, since it wasn't carried by Stampin' Up!  So, now that I've started using it, I love it!! You've seen several cards and projects using Washi here on my blog over the past month, and now, you can see even more!! Stampin' Up! is offering a new class called "What to Washi"!! You can get this class two different ways, with or without product.  So, if you have lots of Washi tape already, then you just need to class, which is downloadable so you can get instant gratification.  If you don't have any Washi, then you just have to get the bundle!  It comes with 12 rolls of Washi tape, 20 cards and envelopes and the downloadable class which has step by step instructions, color pictures, and videos that make 30 projects!!  They are super cute projects too, I had to buy the class!  I went with the product bundle because it comes with new Halloween and Christmas Washi that will be in the upcoming Holiday mini catalog that isn't available to purchase from until August 1st, so this way I get my Washi early, which makes me happy :)    The downloadable online class with instructions and pictures for all 30 projects is only $14.95 item #134742 .  To get all that PLUS the Washi tape and the cards and envelopes is $36.95 item #134743.  Let me know if you have any questions! Click here to go to my online store and see the information about both versions of this new class.

Here is a card I made with Washi Tape.

Coffee for Two

This card is based on the card I made last week.  I made lots of the coffee ring card bases.  I had the saucer filled with ink, so I figured I should use it up.  I used the paper piecing technique on this card.  I really like the look of the patterned paper on the coffee sleeves.  Fun!

Just stamp your image onto some patterned paper and cut out.  Then just layer the patterned paper onto your main stamped image.  Easy Peazy.

Here is yet another version of the coffee card...

Too Kind.... again!

The Too Kind stamp set is still out on my desk, so I have made quite a few cards with it this week.  I sold a lot of my retired sets this month, so I sent out some thank you notes using this set- some as in almost 15 cards.  Its just so easy to make something so pretty.  The cards I sent out were very similar to these, but they used some retired ribbon and paper, so I made some more with current colors.  These cards have a Pink Pirouette base, with a small strip of Pink Pirouette Designer Series paper, and some Pink Pirouette ribbon.  The inks used are Pink Pirouette for the lighter shade, Blushing Bride for the top highlight layer on the flowers and the words, and Pistachio Pudding for the stem.  The first card I made was super simple, just using the circle punch for the main image.
Pretty and just a few minutes to make.
The next version adds a frame made with the Window Frames Collection Dies.  I also used to matching paper piercing templates to pierce around the frame.

I made a third version with some added bling...

I used Versa mark and heat and stick powder to add Dazzling Diamonds to the main image. Its hard to photograph glitter but in real life the sparkle is very pretty.

I hope you like today's projects! Thanks for stopping by!

Too Kind

I really enjoy 2-step stamping, so this set was on my first order from the new catalog.  If you are not familiar with 2-step stamping, it is when you use two separate stamps to complete your image.  Usually the 2-step stamps involve layering your stamps, as I have done here.  Start with a lighter shade of ink with your background image, then add a darker shade with your next layer.  As you can see I still have the new In-Colors on my desk.  I keep wanting to use the ribbon!! Here I used Crisp Cantaloupe as my card base, and I accented it with Tangerine Tango.  I kept this card pretty simple because my stamping time is super short these days!  I'm spending most of my time outside with the kids!  Zachary has learned to ride a two-wheeler and all Jillian wants to do is play in the kiddie pool!  We are having lots of fun!   But, despite it's simplicity and how fast it was to make, I still think that my card turned out very pretty!

Love that ribbon!!!!

A Thousand Thanks

I am finally playing around with the new "In Colors".   I have to admit, they were not my favorite collection.  I've really liked the past groups, with the deep colors.  I still miss Poppy Parade and Concord Crush.  This new collection is very soft.  I knew I would like Strawberry Slush, and the colors themselves are all very nice, but they just sat on my desk, poor little colors!  Then I got the new Ribbon this week!  WOW is that ribbon pretty!! It's ruffle-y  and slightly stretchy and just beautiful!!  I just had to use it ASAP!   So, since I was in a new products mood, I decided to use a new stamp set and the new clay molds as well!  My first attempt at the molds went pretty well.  I read on some message boards that it was easier to remove the buttons from the molds if you set them in the fridge for a bit, so I did that.  I was surprised by how light they are, and even the next day they are still slightly squishy, more of a foam than a clay.  The clay was very easy to color.  I just added some drops of re-inker to a bit of clay and mushed it in a plastic baggie.

This little bit of clay was enough to make 5 buttons, so I am happy at how much you can make with the pack of clay, it seems it will last quite a while.

Look at that pretty ruffle!  And I really like how the colors work together!  I am sure I will be using the new colors a lot.  I am glad I gave them a try!!

Perfect Blend

I love coffee, and I was sad when I learned that the Coffee set from the previous catalog was being discontinued.  Then I saw the new coffee set and love it even more!!  The previous one featured tea and coffee, and I'm more of a coffee person.  This set is just so cute! I love the sentiments that it comes with.  One reads "Coffee and friends are the perfect blend" and the other " Given enough coffee, I could rule the world. temporarily"  Love it!  I can image making gift card holders with Starbucks gift cards or treat holders with chocolate covered espresso beans, and just fun cards to say "hello."

What do you think of my coffee cup rings on the card?  I thought they were cute.  And what better way to make coffee rings than with a coffee cup?

I added a drop of reinker (in Early Espresso of course) to some water in a saucer.  Next, I placed the cup in the saucer, then onto the paper, simple as that.

Fun card right?  Well, it sure was fun to make!

Father's Day Favor -- edited to add measurements

I wasn't going to post this super fast Father's Day party favor but since I am behind in my posts I thought, Why not?  Its hard to get some good stamping time with the kids home for the summer!  We have lots of fun things to do each day.  Jillian is in "Stage Play" and gymnastics and swimming, Zachary is in gymnastics and swimming and David has art class and swimming.  Lots of driving around.  Anyway, onto my project.  I was asked to make a little something to hand out at church on Sunday.  We had flowers for the Mothers on Mother's Day, so they wanted to do something for Father's Day.   I was asked to come up with something, but I didn't find out about it until just a few days before.  I was asked to make 50 and try to keep them simple and inexpensive.  I came up with this.  I always have cello bags in many sizes on hand, so I filled them with chocolate covered almonds and raisins, and pistachio nuts.  I made a simple bag topper with some Whisper White paper to mimic a collar and then used some ribbon to make a tie.  I know its too late to give anyone any Father's Day inspiration for this year, but maybe someone could use it next year.  If you need to make a lot, this came together fast for very little expense.

Here are some more directions....

I am using a bag that is 3 inches wide.  You can change this up if you need to.

cut a piece of paper 3 inches wide and 2 inches long, score at 1/2 inch.

make a pencil mark half way, so for me that's
1 1/2 inches.  make it as high as you want your collar to be.

cut from the corner to the top of your pencil line, on both corners.

Staple the collar piece to your treat bag, the collar will hide the staples.

Make a tie with ribbon and  add a big glue dot to the back.  This will stick the tie on, but it will also make the collar lie flat.

Mosaic Madness

The Mosaic Madness set is such a fun set to use!  I love paper punches, so any set with a paper punch makes me happy.  I started out by stamping a pattern on the left side of my card.  Then I stamped some extra images on a scrap of whisper white paper and punched them out.  I cut some thin 3/4 inch strips of Quatrefancy paper and forked the ends.  I added a couple Rhinestones just for fun.  Another fast card today!

Washi tape is fun!

This card was so quick and easy I'm not sure what to say about it except that Washi tape is super fun and easy!  I used all three tapes from the Gingham Garden collection, just taped them down.  Not quite straight? No problem, peel it up and lay it back down.  Love it!  The thank you is from the Sassy Salutations set.  The white layer is popped up on dimensionals and I added a Rhinestone just for fun.

Another thing about Washi Tape is that a roll lasts a lot longer than I thought it would!  I used these tapes at my open house, and again at a demonstrator meeting and on some thank you cards for May orders, and its still going.  I am happily surprised by the Washi Tape.  $4.95 for three coordinating rolls!

fast and easy summer time gift

I needed some cute gifts, and I needed several, and I thought these fun summer drinks from Starbucks were a great beginning of summer thank you.  But, I wanted to dress them up, so here is what I came up with.

To Start I made two strips of paper, one 12 by 3 1/2 (score at 4 1/2 and 5 3/4) and the other 3 1/2 by 3 (score at 2 1/4).
I used these to wrap the box, adhered with just a bit of snail.  I didn't want the box to get torn apart with sticky strip.  I rounded the front corners of the top flap.

I made the poofy flower by cutting a scallopy circle out of some coffee filters.

I separated them and flipped some over so that the scallops didn't all line up.

I used a paper piercer to punch two holes in the coffee filters.  I used a dental flosser pick thingy to thread the button and flowers together.  See this post here about the dental flosser pick thingy, love this tip!

Gather the scallop circles up to the center, then spread them back apart.

I added some fun banners and the "Thanks" stamp from Fabulous Phrases.  Isn't hat paper cute?  Its new!  It's called Gingham Garden, super pretty!

Some of these were for school and so I added some ribbon to make them look like backpacks.
These are from a recently retired paper.
