Flowers Fair Stamp set and the Spotlight Technique

Hi Stamping Friends. Today I am sharing a card with the new Flowers Fair Stamp Set. I love this stamp!! It is one very large stamp. I knew when I first saw it that the stamp would be great for many coloring techniques and I love to color.  For my first coloring session with the stamp I chose Watercolor Pencils!! I love these.  I love that I can blend the colors and choose to use them with or without water. I also love that I can color on Crumb Cake and many other colors of cardstock. This is because the pigment of the pencils sits on top of the paper, where as the markers or ink would blend into the paper, changing the colors and making them duller and darker.

I used these cards for a swap, so I had to make twenty of them. I then thought, wow that is a lot of coloring!!  Then I remembered the Spotlight Technique.  The spotlight technique is where you highlight only a section of a larger image or pattern, where stamped or in Designer Series Paper.  You can use dies or punches to create these highlighted areas.  For this card I choose a Heart shape die from the Endless Love dies from Stampin' Up!

I started by stamping on Basic White cardstock with Memento Ink. I then die cut the heart.  I used Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils in Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana.

I made a card base with Bubble Bath and cut a smaller heart in Bubble Bath, also from the Endless Love dies. I used some 1/8 Bubble Bath Ribbon and small adhesive pearls for embellishments.

I used dimensionals to pop up the hearts to set them even more apart from the background.

In keeping with the heart theme, I used sentiments from the Friendly Foliage stamp set.

After creating the first card I remember how much I really like coloring on Crumb Cake Cardstock and decided to see what that would look like.  I decided to Heat Emboss with Black Embossing Powder the image on this version.  I used the same colored pencils, omitting the Coastal Cabana.

I added some Wink of Stella splatter as well.

The sentiments on this version come from the Framed All Around stamp set.

I used a masking technique to get just the small grouping of flowers for the inside of the card.

I have a video that shows two ways to mask off areas of the stamp.

This is such a pretty stamp set and I see a lot of coloring with it in my future.
