Grinch Pills Revisited

Last year I made some "Grinch Pills" and they were a big hit.  This year I wanted to make them again, but I also wanted to use up some of the little containers that Stampin' Up! buttons and things come in.  You see I am one of those people who hang onto little containers and things because I just know that I can "do something" with them.  I keep the empty button containers in a little bin, but they were starting to need a second bin and I decided it was time to use them.  So, here is this years "Grinch Pills".    To see last years click here.  and to see what paper punches are used to make the Grinch, click here.
The Saying on the back reads "Feeling kinda Grinchy? Holiday Spirit can't be found? Just try these little Grinch pills, they're the best medicine around.  Whether eating a whole handful, or munching one or two, these tasty little pills will take the Grinch right out of you.   I found a fun "Grinch" font online at Dafont.com.  It was free.  I used my "My Digital Studio" to create the labels and stuck them to the back.  I sized them to fit and luckily they are the same size as my large circle punch :)
I filled them with mint M&M's.  YUM!
The Bah Hum Bug stamp is from the super fun set called "Very Merry Tags"- I love this set!!  It goes with so many punches and has pretty and silly Christmas tag stamps!
Thanks for stopping by today!  I have a Craft Fair on Saturday, so I have been MIA this week, trying to make a few items to sell.   If you are in the area, stop by St. John's Lutheran Church in Lombard Illinois and say Hi! maybe buy some Grinch Pills ! :)

Festive Flurry Ornament card

Happy Monday everyone.  I have an actual project to share today!  Seems like the last few posts have been all about Stampin' Up! specials!  But there have been so many fun things going on, so I had no choice really :)  In Fact, really quick, I want to make sure you know that today is the last day of the 25% of 25 stamps sale.  And tomorrow will be the Tuesday special.  OK, now on to the card!  This card features a fun snowflake that lifts off to become an ornament for the tree.  I really like the new Festive Flurry snowflake set and matching framelits.  I know they are a little pricey, but I have been getting a lot of use out of them.  They make fun cards but are also large enough for scrapbooks and home decorating too.  And if you buy the stamps and framelits together in a bundle, you save a little bit too.   To make the ornament I used three of the four snowflake sizes.  I stamped the largest and smallest in silver metallic Encore ink, the middle size is in Pool Party.  I used a dimensional in between each layer and added a beautiful Rhinestone "Frosted Finishes Embellishment" in the center.

I used the new "Expressions Thinlits Dies " to cut out the "Merry".  I cut them out of the Foil paper that is in the Holiday Mini catalog.  So pretty!

To make the snowflake removable I used a 1 inch circle punch, cut in half and glued only at the bottom to the card base.  I then used a 3/4 circle glued only at the top to the back of the snowflake.  The smaller circle fits into the larger half circle, like a pocket.  I attached some silver ribbon to the top of the snowflake to use to hang on the tree.
Festive Flurry Bundle - Wood mount #133284 $54.95  cling mount #133285 $46.95

Expressions Thinlets # 132171 $24.95
Thanks for Stopping by!!  Don't forget to check out the online specials tomorrow for the new Weekly deals, or today for the last day of 25% off 25 stamp sets!

Placemats!!

Welcome to week two of our October MDS Blog Hop!  Are you familiar with the MDS Blog Hop?  Its a collection of blog posts by a team of MDS Lovers who link their blogs together to showcase the fun and versatility of My Digital Studio.   We hop the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month.  This week we are showing you "what we are working on" in MDS.   I am working on Placemats!!  One of the great features of MDS is the Custom Size Feature.  You can use it to create custom business cards, frame-ables, placemats and more!  I made some fun Christmas placemats last year so this year I am adding to my collection by making fun Thanksgiving placemats!  Jillian especially loves to eat on these, and we get it out for watercolor and play dough too.

I print them out and have them laminated at Office Depot.  Staples and Office Max are good for this too!

here are some older placemats I've made for Christmas...

and here is a version I made for Zachary and Jillian to practice their letters and printing...

Stamp Sale

I had planned to post a project today, but the Stampin' Up! sale is too good not to post.  This week is Stampin' Up's actual 25th anniversary.  Stampin' Up has been doing several things this year to celebrate 25 years in business, but this week is the actual week!  They have 25 stamp sets at 25% off for this one week only.  Starting today and going through October 28th, 25 stamps will be on sale.  I checked out the list and I have most of them as usual, but the single Christmas star went straight into my cart this morning!  The picture doesn't do it justice, its actually very big, card front sized! Love it.  I also grabbed "Hello Lovely" and "Zoo Babies".  If you don't already have "Gently Falling", "Ornament Keepsakes" (matching framelits still available), "Snowflake Soiree" or "Gorgeous Grunge" you should jump on those.  Oh, and "Label Love" (matching punch), "Bitty Banners" (matching framelits) and "A Dozen Thoughts".   OR what about "Yippee Skippy" and "Morning Post Alphabet"?  Seriously, they are all good!  While you are there, don't forget to check out the weekly deals, the clearance rack and the newest Digital downloads!  And, don't forget to use the "Hostess Code" to get your frequent buyer points.

Endless Wishes

Do you know about the Photopolymer Stamps from Stampin' Up?  You may know of them as "clear stamps".  Stampin' Up! introduces a new Photopolymer stamp set every so often.  These stamps are less expensive than the rubber stamps you are used to from Stampin' Up! and are a limited release.  So far there have been 11 sets offered!  I don't think I have mentioned them very much, I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical, I am a firm believer in the quality of the rubber stamp.   Stampin' Up! is committed to quality and uses high quality Photopolymer.  I have purchased about 5 sets so far and I  have to admit to being pleasantly surprised.  They are more for fun, and the sets are more trendy or whimsical.  Today's release is super cute and I know it will go on my order this weekend.  I liked it so much I had to share it on my blog.  I love the doodle look to it.

The set of 19 stamps is just $13.95.  Photo Polymer stamps to do not come in a stamp case, they are meant to be a less expensive option.  I bought a few stamp cases to put them in.
Check out the full line of Photopolymer stamps in my online store by clicking here !  My Favorites are the Bombs Away, Another Thank you, and Christmas Tagables.
If you have any questions about the Photopolymer line, feel free to contact me, I am always happy to help!
Thanks for stopping by today!!

Leaf Wreath

Happy Fall everyone.  Are the leaves by you changing colors yet?  They are not too colorful around here actually.  I heard that our very mild weather is making this years fall a less colorful one.  I am changing all that with my fall wreath.  I cut out leaves with my big shot Autumn Accents die in various fall colors.  The Autumn Accents die is one of the "Bigz" dies, which are great because you can run multiple sheets of paper through them at one time.  Cutting out all these leaves was a breeze.  I had tons left over too, so we used them at the last  stamp camp, and I used them on my fall banner too!  I ran most of the leaves through the big shot a second time with an embossing folder. I arranged several leaves in the folder at a time. I also used a sponge on the leaves so they had more dimension.   I also cut some out with gold glimmer paper and some newsprint too.   I attached the leaves to a twig wreath with a hot glue gun.

Fall Banner

I had a lot of fun creating this fall banner.  It was really easy because it used the Build a Banner Simply Created kit.  The kit comes with the pre-cut banners, already complete with grommets.  You also get twine and stencils!  You can also buy a refill kit without the stencils.  I bought a couple refills because I know I will be making these again in the future.  I think it will be fun to make one for a birthday party, maybe pink with lots of frills for Jillian!  You can really take it in any direction.

I added some burlap and buttons between the pennants.

I finished of the ends with some paper leaves.

Here is the full kit.  You get a full set of alphabet stencils, some background stencils, jute twine, 18 canvas pennants and a spritzer.   Although the kit comes with a spritzer, I used a sponge. I actually forgot it even came with the spritzer :)   Sponges worked great and I found them to be really easy, so I would probably do it that way again next time.   The spritzer is super fun though and I will use it on other projects.   This kit is just $19.95!!  item # 133407.  you get 18 canvas pennants.

This is the refill kit.  You get 18 canvas pennants and some jute twine (approx. 9 feet).  The refill is just $9.95 item #13699.

Birthday Clown

Remember my fun little owls from a post a few days back?  My clown owl was needed for a birthday card!  Here is a link back to the owl punch post. I made the balloons with the word window punch, the small oval punch, and the feet from the owl.  The owls clown shoes are a small heart cut in half.

I hope you like my owl birthday card!  Have a great weekend!!

October MDS Blog Hop!!

Welcome to the "NEW" MDS Blog Hop!!  Hi all!  I have been asked to join the MDS Blog Hop!  Stampin' Up's My Digital Studio.  I love this hop, I always checked it out! Now, I am part of the team!  There are always lots of fun ideas for My Digital Studio on this blog hop!  What's a Blog hop?  It is where a group of bloggers link their blogs together to showcase a certain topic or idea.  For us, its our love of My Digital Studio!  There are 10 digital designers on the team in all.  We will be hopping on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month.  We will have a "theme" on the first week of a hop and then a "what we are doing in MDS" on the second week of the hop.  This month we are highlighting the upcoming holidays. I have Thanksgiving, perfect for me as I just love all the fall colors and crunchy leaves and fun fall food!  Check out my Thanksgiving project, then just click on the NEXT button and it will take you to the next person on the hop, keep hopping until you get back to where you started!  I hope that you find some fun ideas for your upcoming Holiday festivities and get inspired to make some of your own!  Please let us know what you think in the comments, we would love to hear from you!

For my Thanksgiving themed project I have made place cards.  It is so easy to make place cards with MDS.  You can create a few varieties or just one, then simply copy and paste more onto your page.  Then just add a text box with your guests names and print them out.  I choose to use leaves from the French Foliage Download.
Here are my place cards....
I also whipped up a few food signs for the desert table...

To make the place cards I printed them out on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of card stock.  I then mounted them onto a folded piece of Early Espresso.  I also added a Naturals Designer Button.  The font I used here is called "simply*glamorous".  I really like it, but it is very loopy.  I add an extra blank line of text before adding my real text, if I don't it seems some of the tops of my letters get cut off.  I love this font for titles, monograms, and note cards.  Here is a link: http://www.dafont.com/search.php?q=simply*glamorous
I hope you like my project!  For a closer look at the "how to" head on over to my "Beth's Digital Cuts", a blog I created for my digital customers to help them learn more about using My Digital Studio.   But first, click on the NEXT button to check out what the other Hop Members have come up with!

Harvest Treats

I made these fun "Harvest Treats" to use as party favors at Thanksgiving.  What do you think?  I was trying to call them "Indian Corn" but they are not quite the right shape for corn, so I'm going with "Harvest Treats" :)

Edited in 2016 to add more current Stampin' Up! product and a video

I started out by filling pastry bags with candy corn and harvest colored M&M's.  I bought the pastry bags at www.clearbags.com 100 for $10.
The bags are pretty large, so I only filled them about half way or I would have needed a ton of candy.

I tied the top and cut off the excess.

I used corn husks from the grocery store to wrap them.  I had to really look for them, they are used to wrap tamales and they didn't have them at the grocery store I regularly go to.  I tried a specialty market near by and they had them, as well as the largest produce section I have ever seen.  I guess I learned it is sometimes a good idea to venture out and go to new places.  They had cactus, 8 different kids of bananas and fruits I've never heard of!

I tied the candy bags up with strips of the corn husks.

I made the tags with the fun Tags 4 You stamp set!  It  has a matching punch and when you get the stamp set and the punch together, you get 15% off!

Fun?  Not quite "corn" but still a cute addition to my Thanksgiving table.

The item number for the bundle is 133294 $26.95 clear mount, 133293 $30.95 wood mount.  page 37 of the holiday catalog.
