Sharing Sunshine

When I saw the super cute 'Sharing Sunshine' stamp set in the new Annual Catalog I just had to add it to my cart.  I thought it would be so cute on scrapbook pages and cards!

This past week I needed to make 24 treat bags and thought about that fun sun! The treat bags were to celebrate the beginning of summer and the end of the school year, so what better image than a smiling sun?

When I was trying to decide on a background paper for the treat bags, I remembered this sky paper in the Beauty of the Earth paper pack.  The paper has a beautiful watercolor wash sky paper! There was also a fun green wash, so I decided to add the grass to the bags too, just for more fun!

There are a couple options for sun 'rays' and I decided to layer them, one layer in Bumblebee and the other thinner rays embossed in gold on top.

The tag is printed from my computer.

You can see how to make these bags in the video below.

I remembered the cloud border dies from the Basic Borders dies and decided to add them to the card.  So glad I did, I love the layers of clouds and their cute stitching detail.  The gingham Bumblebee Ribbon just adds to the cuteness!

Expressions in Ink

The Annual Catalog Inspiration

EXPRESSIONS IN INK SUITE

The Expressions in Ink suite is so gorgeous that it has a well-deserved place on the front cover of the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. This suite combines the abstract beauty, fluid design, and bold colors of alcohol inks and watercolor, without any of the mess! The gold embellishments and accents add the perfect touch of elegance to this artistically inspired suite.

The card tutorial below features heat embossing, paper-piecing, and layer upon layer of texture and detail. It's a great way to combine the watercolor images with the coordinating, but not matching, detailed die cuts. Just imagine all the colors you could re-create this project in for occasions like birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries.

As always, feel free to contact me at any time! I love to discuss all things stampy!
Sincerely,
Beth

Spiral Dye stamp with Bleach

One of my favorite ways to Tie Dye on Fabric is with Bleach, so why not on Paper too!  These cards all feature the Spiral Dye stamped with Ink.

It was really interesting to see how the different colored cardstock reacted differently to the bleach.  The Polished Pink gave a typical white reaction, but a lot of the other colors gave a more yellowish tint or even some pink hues.

For the first card I used the Polished Pink. It gave my favorite reaction with the bleach.  I added the super cute Party Puffins stamp set for a really fun Birthday card.

The card base is Mango Melody. I really like the colors of pink and orange together and Polished Pink and Mango Melody look great.

I thought I would do another Birthday card in blues, so I added Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green to the Pacific Point card.  The balloons are stamped from the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set.  I still had the Party Puffins stamp set on my desk, so I used that for the Happy Birthday.

I thought I would try a more grown up looking card and used the Tasteful Touches stamp set and Tasteful Labels dies for my Sentiment.  The background here is Misty Moonlight. The bleach turned a softer neutral color, so I thought it looked nice on Crumb Cake.  I added a couple daisies with the Medium Daisy Punch for some Flower Power to the Tie Dye look.

This last card is a bit silly. I thought the Spiral Dye stamp on the Night of Navy cardstock looked a bit like going into hyper-drive through space or maybe heading toward a black hole. I spattered some Wink of Stella to the background to give it some twinkle (doesn't show up well on the photo but it does in person).  Next, I added some little space travelers from the Stellar Birthday stamp set.

When using bleach on your stamps, be sure to clean them right away.  I applied the bleach with a paper towel as the bleach tends to eat up the sponges if you don't rinse them out well.  Check out this video for more tips.

The New Spiral Dye Background stamp

This weekend I spent the day with the Spiral Dye stamp.  This stamp had intrigued me when it first came out and I wondered if it would be difficult to use, but no, it's not. I had a lot of fun coming up with different ways to use the stamp.
The stamp is large, and so I needed the largest clear black to use it. Luckily I had one, but maybe a better option if the large block is too big for you, would be to use the large stamp with the Stamparatus.

The first card that I made was this Flower Power card. I added flowers from the Pierced Blooms dies.  The colors here are Mango Melody and Magenta Madness.  Super easy stamping but I think a very fun effect.  I first stamped in Mango Melody, then turn the cardstock 180 degrees and stamp again in Magenta Madness.  By turning the stamp 180 degrees, you get the variation in the spiral image so that the lines don't match up too much.

For this next card I used Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green and Pacific Point.  I added the ink with markers and stamped all at one time.

The sentiment is from the Sending You Thoughts stamp set, embossed in Black and punched out with the Postage Punch.

I made that same card again, only this time I spritzed the stamp with water, then stamped onto Watercolor Paper.  I love how the image blurred out a bit, really giving the Tie Dye look.

I thought I would do another color combination so this time I used Polished Pink, Pale Papaya and Fresh Freesia.  I added the color with Sponges this time, just to try out other ways.  I think the sponges gave me more control, so I think that's how I will do it going forward.

The sentiment is from the Sending You Thoughts stamp set, punched out with the Label Me Pretty punch.  I added some Pale Papaya woven ribbon for more texture.

Here is a video showing how to make these cards.
