Masking technique

Hi Everyone!  Today I want to share some cards I made last night. I was looking at the Loyal Leaves stamp set and my mind kept changing it to 'Layered' leaves and then I thought, might as well use it that way!

I love the Loyal Leaves set for the Ginkgo leaf and the great sentiments.  I think this set will be great for many uses but especially masculine cards. I was also drawn to this set because I love water coloring, and I thought this set would be good for water coloring techniques.

I stamped some of the leaves onto Post-it notes and cut them out to make masks.  For this technique you need several, so cut three or four masks from your image.

I first stamped the leaves in Sadle Brown Stazon ink.  Stazon is waterproof so it is a great choice for water color techniques.  This version uses Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cinnamon Cider, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler. The card base is Early Espresso.
Don't you love that little buckle looking embellishment? It is a new ribbon slide from the Antiqued Corner and Slides embellishment pack.
The Ribbon is Faux Suede trim.

The Ginkgo leaves are painted with Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green, and Shaded Spruce. This time I did not use a waterproof ink, the stamped images just were let to bleed into the leaf as I colored them in.
The card base is Shaded Spruce.  The Ribbon is from the Forever Greenery Ribbon pack.

This last leaf card uses Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss. I noticed that when painting with the Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape did not paint as smoothly as some of the other colors. I don't know why this is, it could be the a difference in the pigments.  It is still pretty though.
The card base is Blackberry Bliss.
Ribbon is Purple Posy scallop linen trim.

Here is a how to for these cards that I made for my YouTube channel.

I had so much fun that I made some more!  I looked through my stamps and thought a bunch of apples would be nice, and a plate of cookies.  I bet that you have some stamps that would be great for this technique.  If not, pick up the Loyal Leaves stamp set!
