Celebrate Independence Day and every day with the Create with Friends stamp set

Happy July 4th! Independence Day!  I started out making something else with the Create with Friends stamp set, but then the idea for a Red, White and Blue card came to mind so I rolled with it and here is the result. I think it is super fun and I am dropping off an Apple Pie to someone later today and I will add this fun little card to the gift.

There are many stars in die sets from Stampin' Up! and I settled on these cuties from the Give It A Whirl die set.  I liked these starts because they have a nice stitching detail that works with my Tailor Made Tags dies.  I also liked that the dies cut 3 stars and a time and there were 2 of them, so 6 stars in one pass of the Cut and Emboss Machine.  I used Red Stitched ribbon from the Playful Pets Ribbon Combo Pack.

I wanted to show that this layout would work for so many occasions, so I made the same card in different colors.  Here I used Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party and So Saffron.  My thought here is Baby Card but it could also be a Birthday Card.  Change up the colors to fit the recipient and make a really personalized card.  You could even switch out the starts for hearts or just a Designer Series Paper as well.

And finally, here is the card I intended to create from the start.  I am so looking forward to stamping with friends TOGETHER and am working on finalizing dates to start up Stamp Camps and Card Buffets and other classes in mid to late July! YAY!  I thought I would make up some card to send to my 'regulars' to celebrate getting back together.

This card uses Designer Series Paper called Pattern Party. I took the colors in the paper to stamp my words.  Granny Apple Green, Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo, Pale Papaya, and Poppy Parade.  The ribbon is Glittered Black Ribbon.

Did you notice the shadow on the words on my Embossed tags?  This is so easy to do and really helps the White Embossing show up on lighter colored cardstock.  All you need is a marker in a similar shade, or maybe even a light gray.  A water based marker is best because then you can get right on the embossed letters and the ink wont stay and only color the paper next to it. This drop shadow technique really makes the words stand off the paper.

I used the Hinge Step technique and the Stamparatus to get my perfectly lined up sentiments on the base of the card.  You can see the Hinge Step technique and the Drop Shadow Technique in the video below.

The Create with Friends stamp set is words only.  Think of how many combinations you can make with these words.  Welcome Friends, Celebrate You, You're Amazing, Love You, Best Friends, and on and on.

Here are some samples from the catalog for more ideas.

The Stamparatus is a really great tool to have in your Craft Tool Kit.  It comes with two clear plates to place your stamps, hinged on two sides, a mat for photopolymere stamps and two very strong magnets to hold your cardstock in place.
