Stampin' Blends on Vellum Alcohol Ink background technique

I have been noticing the Alcohol Ink background technique in a lot of places and was really excited to try it out for myself.  I was not disappointed! The technique was fairly easy and was fun to do.  To achieve this look, simply use Stampin' Blends to color a piece of Vellum cardstock.  On this first piece I used Polished Pink, Pale Papaya and Fresh Freesia to color a piece of 5 by 3 3/4 vellum.  Next, dip a brush in Alcohol and dab onto the colors. The brush will pick up some color, so dab the sections of one color before moving onto another color to avoid blending all the colors into one.  Try to avoid pools of alcohol, this can cause the vellum to curl and then the ink will run to the center.  You can use a heat tool to dry the vellum when you are finished, but hold the heat tool further away than usual to keep the vellum from curling.

Adhering the vellum to a piece of Basic White cardstock will really brighten the colors on your vellum piece.

On this first card I used stamps and dies from the Color and Contour bundle to finish the card. I also added a bow in Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon. The card base is Polished Pink.

This second version uses the same technique, but I kept the colors to the center of the Vellum and left a lot of white space. I added some gold foil stems behind the sentiment to dress it up a bit.

For the next card I used a stamp set called Artistically Inked.  The images in this set mimic the look of Alcohol ink techniques.

There is a whole suite of products to go with this stamp set that are really worth looking at.  The papers are stunning and I choose my colors based on the colors in the Designer Series Paper.

This paper is so pretty! You can see the paper in more detail here: https://www.stampinup.com/products/expressions-in-ink-specialty-designer-series-paper?demoid=95176

I made a video showing how to achieve this look, with some tips and tricks. You can view it here:

I decided to try a few more color combinations. This card used Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce, and Evening Evergreen.

The sentiment is from the Forever Fern stamp set.

The next two cards use Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy and Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blends Markers.  The stamp used here is called Artistically Inked.

This card uses the Pirates and Mermaids stamp set.  I love that sentiment "You are so Mermazing!" super cute!
