Layering Backgrounds ~ Rose Wonder stamp set

Hi Everyone.
Sometimes you need an extra special card. I needed one that expressed my deep caring for a friend and I wanted to make it special and convey caring. I thought about this stamp set called Rose Wonder that has this great sentiment that I know she will appreciate.  I thought I would share it with you to show the layering that you can do to a background to make it extra special.

I applied a watercolor wash and then some stamped off sentiments, and then some stenciling and finally some embellishments.
I used the cut out leaf first as a stencil on the back, then flipped it back over to glue to the card front.

The inside needed some extra attention as well, so I stamped another sentiment and added a flower too.

I made a step by step video for the background, which you can see here.

simple elegance

This is such a simple card that lets the paper and die do all the work.

The vanilla and black Timeless Elegance Designer Series paper is so pretty!  I choose a floral pattern from the pack for the background.  The big rose die from the Rose Wonder die and stamp set bundle is all that is needed to complete the focal point of the card.

The sentiments and stamps included in this bundle are really great, I love that they include both Wedding and Sympathy, Birthday and Thank you, so versatile!
And I love that frame and the die to cut it out!

I used my Wink of Stella Gold glimmer brush to add that shimmery outline to the label.  So pretty and shimmery in real life :)

I also used the brush behind the large rose on the card on the left.

Just about any of the sentiments will work with this design.

The inside needed to be addressed since you just can't write to neatly on black.  I added a small pattern from the Timeless Elegance paper that is mostly Vanilla with just a small lightly dotted pattern, easy to write on. I then added a small band of a black pattern at the bottom.

With Sympathy

I sadly needed a sympathy card last week and as I looked though my card box  I found that I didn't have very many already made.  I decided to make up a few and I think they turned out really nice.

This card is quite lovely in real life (if I do say so myself).  It looks really amazing in person because I have used Shimmery White Cardstock.  I really love this cardstock, it is a little heavier than Whisper White, and it has a very pretty shimmer, like it was dusted with pixie dust, very fine.  One great thing about this paper is that you can watercolor on it, which I love, but didn't do this time :)

I cut out several of the leaf branches from Wild Wasabi Cardstock.  I used one as a stencil and sponged on top of the leaf in Wild Wasabi ink. I moved it around a few times and sponged some more so that I had several leaf outlines on the background of the card.  I then used some little splatter images (these are from the Timeless Textures Stamp set) to add more interest to the background.  I then used two more of the leaves to add on top.
I added some scattered rhinestones to the background as well.

The leaves and the sentiment are from the Rose Wonder Bundle.  This is an expensive but well worth it bundle.  It has some large images perfect for lots of coloring techniques, and it also has a lot of pretty sentiments to go with it.  The dies are different than your usual dies in that they cut out an outline of the images, rather than a solid image.  So pretty!  I find I keep using this leaf though. I have used it several times and just love it.  The dies also cut out that sentiment piece.  Many of the sentiments fit into the frame so you can make a birthday, thank you, etc.
