Hi Everyone.
Sometimes you need an extra special card. I needed one that expressed my deep caring for a friend and I wanted to make it special and convey caring. I thought about this stamp set called Rose Wonder that has this great sentiment that I know she will appreciate. I thought I would share it with you to show the layering that you can do to a background to make it extra special.
I applied a watercolor wash and then some stamped off sentiments, and then some stenciling and finally some embellishments.
I used the cut out leaf first as a stencil on the back, then flipped it back over to glue to the card front.
The inside needed some extra attention as well, so I stamped another sentiment and added a flower too.
I made a step by step video for the background, which you can see here.
Hi everyone! There are just a couple days left to get the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and dies! I had a lot of fun using this set and I know I will be making some more cards with it for Halloween and Christmas, I just didn't quite get them completed in time to blog about them. I plan to use the tree branches with out leaves for a spooky Halloween scene, and I also saw a few things on Pinterest where the leaf or blossom bunch can be used for a pumpkin! I also saw the tree branches as coral for the cute fish set! If I make them by Wednesday I will be sure to share. In the meantime go check out this Pinterest board I set up to share cards made with this great set! I barely scratched the surface with this set! So pretty and fun! and I love that there are great winter cards and spring flowers and fall and every occasion and stamping style be it fancy or simple! Really, go check out that Pinterest board!
Here are a couple we made at Stamp Camp on Saturday...
This card was inspired by one from the Pinterest Board by Shannon Lane. Shannon's card has a winter feel with blue hues and I went with fall. Checking out other cards online is a great way to get some inspiration and you can make your cards the same, or maybe copy a color scheme or a layout. Or just change up the colors and make it more you!
This card was made with Shimmery White cardstock, hard to photograph but very pretty in person. I embossed the background with the Woodland Textured Embossing Folder.
Here are some close ups. I love the glimmer paper leaves and the splatter from the Wink of Stella pen. Sponges were used to add the sunset sky to the circle punch out.
I sadly needed a sympathy card last week and as I looked though my card box I found that I didn't have very many already made. I decided to make up a few and I think they turned out really nice.
This card is quite lovely in real life (if I do say so myself). It looks really amazing in person because I have used Shimmery White Cardstock. I really love this cardstock, it is a little heavier than Whisper White, and it has a very pretty shimmer, like it was dusted with pixie dust, very fine. One great thing about this paper is that you can watercolor on it, which I love, but didn't do this time :)
I cut out several of the leaf branches from Wild Wasabi Cardstock. I used one as a stencil and sponged on top of the leaf in Wild Wasabi ink. I moved it around a few times and sponged some more so that I had several leaf outlines on the background of the card. I then used some little splatter images (these are from the Timeless Textures Stamp set) to add more interest to the background. I then used two more of the leaves to add on top.
I added some scattered rhinestones to the background as well.
The leaves and the sentiment are from the Rose Wonder Bundle. This is an expensive but well worth it bundle. It has some large images perfect for lots of coloring techniques, and it also has a lot of pretty sentiments to go with it. The dies are different than your usual dies in that they cut out an outline of the images, rather than a solid image. So pretty! I find I keep using this leaf though. I have used it several times and just love it. The dies also cut out that sentiment piece. Many of the sentiments fit into the frame so you can make a birthday, thank you, etc.
