Vintage Tags

The card pictured above was a complete copy of one made by my friend Kathy Lebfritz.  It was super cute so I snapped a picture with my phone and made one when I got home.  I just love the little tags!  I've used these little tags before (here) and I love the look they give.  This card uses a stamp set called Fresh Vintage, which has been inked up with Lucky Limeade, Poppy Parade, Pool Party, and Peach Parfait markers.  The Tiny Tags stamp set and Jewelry Tags punch make the tags, which have been attached with a teeny tiny safety pin from Vintage Trinkets Embellishments. 

The hearts were cut from the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies-love those!! and the paper is from the Sale-a-Bration catalog and is called Everyday Enchantment.

Birthday Girl

Another digital page.  I know, my blog is called Beth's PAPER CUTS, not digital cuts : )   but I am learning a lot in my digital class.   Today I learned that I can resize my projects from 6x6 to 12 x 12, or 8x8, it was easier that I thought.  I we were shown how to make 4 card fronts on one page, which we could then print out and make into 4 full cards, or use as postcards.  I am learning a lot, but it is keeping me from my paper passion.  I do have several cards I need to make for upcoming events, so I need to get back into  my craft room, and I'll share those projects with you soon.  And, Easter is coming, so you know I have so make some sort of bunny out of punches or something.

First Crush

Hi all!   I'm still taking the My Digital Studio online class.   I'm learning all sorts of new things to make the software easier, and faster to use.  On this page I learned how to line things up, how to select exactly where on the patterned paper I want to punch (for example the top square with the birds originally had the birds heads cut off when I "paper filled" the punched square, but I learned how to get the part of the paper I wanted).  I also learned how to add a shadow to multiple items at once, and how to import new fonts.   This page shows Zachary with his 3rd grade "Fit Buddie".  The preschoolers were paired up with 3rd grade students at the beginning of the school year and Zachary thinks she is the best girl ever!  Check out Heather Summers Blog if you are interested in the class, or ask me how to get the My Digital Studio software for your computer! I had to post a Shamrock today!  Its actually a card I've posted before, but hey, its almost St. Patricks day and I'm Irish, so I needed a Shamrock for today! And, some of you haven't seen the post before, so I'm posting it again. 

I sketched out my pattern onto grid paper, and glued the squares down directly on the grid paper.   You can make just about any pattern.  Check out some quilting block books for tons of patterns. 

I ran the glued down squares through my Big Shot to get the quilted texture.

Jillian turns One!

I am still working on mastering the My Digital Studio software.  I learned some new tricks today and used them on this page.  I learned how to turn all the stamped images on my page the same color, without having to do them individually.    This was Jillian's first professional pictures.  She did a great job, it was a fun day.    Stamps are from the First Edition digital set, embellishments and frames are from the You are my Sunshine digital kit.

Butterfly Thanks

This card uses two products from the Sale-A-Bration catalog, wait, make that three!  As a long time Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Sale-a-Bration is one of my favorite time of the year.  For those of you who are not familiar with this annual special, Sale-a-Bration is a promotion where you can choose a free product from the special Sale-a-Bration catalog for every $50 you spend.  This card uses the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, the Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, and the Kindness Matters stamp set.  I started out by stamping the butterfly image in basic black on to a scrap of Very Vanilla, then punched that out with the XL Oval punch.  I also stamped a second butterfly, to cut out an layer on top of the first butterfly for some added dimension.  I colored the butterflies with Pool Party, Island Indigo, and Lucky Limeade markers.  I also added some

sponging to the edges of the Very Vanilla oval for a distressed look.  Next I cut a larger oval with my Big Shot and ran it through the Designer Frames Embossing Folder.  To keep the oval in place while embossing,  I added a tiny bit of dotto to the back of my oval (dotto is a repositional adhesive, so good for keeping things in place for just a little time) then placed it in the folder and embossed it.  I then used a sponge and some Chocolate Chip ink to distress the larger Crumb Cake oval.  I also used my distressing tool to ruff up the large oval.    Then I glued the small oval into the large oval.  I used some linen thread to tie the oval onto the Island Indigo background paper, which had been embossed with the Stripes Embossing Folder.  I also added some sponging to the edges of the Island Indigo paper as well.  I used a scrap of Very Vanilla to make the "Thanks" tag, and attached it with a Vintage Trinkets brad.  So, I realize that my Thanks is a bit crooked, I didn't notice it as much in person, but then after I took the pictures, it really stood out.  I decided to say it was part of the shabby chic distressed look of the card :)

Quick treat bag

I needed to make a quick little thank you, and so I whipped up this box in minutes.  This box uses one piece of paper, 8 1/2 by 11 and some  added embellishments to make it cute. To make it even easier than it already was, I used precut flower die cuts from the spring occasions mini catalog.  The kit comes with approx 50 die cut flowers, some tags, and a sheet of 30 pink rhinestone stick ons.
To make the box you need to trim half of an inch off the long side, to make the paper  8 1/2 by 10 1/2.  Then you need to score that paper at 1 1/2 in, 5 in, 6  1/2 and 10in, along the long side, then turn the paper and make another score at 1 1/2 inches.

cut off the small rectangle made by your score lines, you can see where I've cut mine in this picture.  You also need to cut along the score lines up to the 1 1/2 inch line you made. 

Fold your box and use a strong adhesive, like sticky strip, to glue it together.  I also added a crease line to the sides so that it closed nicely.

Add your embellishments.

I added a tab punch and some ribbon to the top, as a closure for the box.  In the background of this picture you can see the Blossom Builder Kit.   Fill it with something, I recommend Chocolate, and you're done! Yea! So fast!
