Cute as a button!

Hello everyone!  Did you notice that the buttons are all on the retiring list?  Well they are and I actually have quite a lot of buttons.  I needed to come up with something for the kids in my church class to make for Mother's Day and I thought I would use some of my buttons.  I found the cute little white pails at Target for just $1 and we dressed them up with some Washi Tape and buttons.  We then made some button 'flowers' with some wire and some buttons.  The kids really enjoyed stringing the buttons and making some pretty crazy 'flowers'.
I found the perfect size plants to go inside and we stuck our button flowers into the soil to pretty up the plants while we wait for the real flowers to bloom.

You can find some great things on sale right now as Stampin' Up! transitions to a new catalog.  Check out the great deals at both the Clearance Rack and the Retiring List.

Fast Mother's Day Favors

In the midst of my Star Wars craziness earlier in the week, I also needed to make small favors for Mother's Day.  Our church likes to pass out a little something on Mother's Day and Father's Day and I am often asked to make something up when needed.  I just had a day to get it done and I was looking in my supply cabinet and spotted my Tiny Treat boxes.  These little boxes were introduced a few Christmas catalogs back as Advent treat boxes, so they come in packs of 25! I needed 50 so these were perfect.  I make a lot of favors throughout the year and always have boxes and bags and things on hand.  The treat boxes are a great price, and that was the order of the day as we are trying to keep things simple and inexpensive.  I also used some paper and twine that is retired.  The Stampin' Up! clearance rack is a great resource for discontinued products at great prices!  You can find lots of ribbon and embellishments there.  I also used some retiring punches!  I have to say that I was  surprised by the retiring punches this year! There are a lot of great ones going away! The Washi label punch and Word Window punches are already sold out!  These two, the Scallop Oval and the Large oval are still available while supplies last.  These will be staying in my stash, I use them all the time, along with the Stamp Set "Teeny Tiny Wishes", which is where the "Happy Mother's Day stamp comes from (set is NOT retiring).   Another item I used here is the little flower from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. I use that flower all the time!!  I know, I said that about the ovals but it really is true.  That little flower is so sweet and is perfectly sized to add to a tag or inside a card or anywhere! It is on the front of the box here, but In the photo it doesn't show (just realized that, sorry).
This is a simple and fast way to decorate the box.  I used strips of paper 2 1/2 by 6 and then used the Triple Banner Punch to notch the ends. I add just a bit of glue to the top of the box, not the sides, so that the box can be opened without tearing the paper.  The twine holds the sides down.

See, easy to open the box and it stays nice and pretty.

All boxed up and ready to go!!

Thanks for stopping by!!  Be sure to check out the retiring list (may items are discounted) and the clearance rack for some great deals!!

May the 4th be with you! Some Star Wars fun!

Hello Everyone!!!  May the 4th be with you!!  May the 4th has been a favorite day for Star Wars fans for quite a while so I thought today would be a great day to share what I have been working on this week.
It is Teacher Appreciation week at our school and the theme this year is Star Wars.
First up is BB8.  I thought this new little droid was just so cute in the latest movie and so when I was tasked with making some treat holders for the luncheon I really wanted to make a BB8.  The Curvy Keepsake Die seemed the way to go, and I wanted to keep it a little simple because I had to make A LOT of them.  I was going to make little paper circles and strips from silver foil, but then the reality of that on 60 of them hit me and I went with a silver Sharpie instead.   You can do a lot more with this idea and really make it grand. I kept things simple due to the number needed.

The handle on the Curvy Keepsake is hollow, but I needed it to be solid, so I traced it, then cut out a layer to go over it.  I used the tag from the Die set to help me make the silver and Pumpkin Pie lines on the head.

Front and back on of the head.  The "eye" was made with a hole punch in black and a smaller in red.

BB8 was really fun to make and I hope that they are well received.
They are filled with chocolates.

I also made light sabers from pretzels and melted chocolates. I just wrapped the ends in some retired paper and added a band and 'buttons' for more detail.  Again, I didn't want to get crazy here because I needed to make a lot and I know they are just going to be eaten.  Cute but quick was the order of the day here.

Lastly my Daughter and I decorated the wall outside of the library.  Many parents took jobs of decorating different areas of the school and the doors of the classrooms.  It looks really fun throughout the school!

Our R2D2 mural was made with Post-It notes.

I hope you like my little May 4th Star Wars Fun!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Post-it note Mural R2D2

Hi everyone!  I know, this is not a Stampin' Up! project! But it's crafty and you are crafty, so I thought I would share.  It is teacher appreciation week at our school and Friday after all the teachers left, we put up decorations.  The theme this year is Star Wars.  I was tasked with a wall outside the library. I was trying to think of ideas and I remembered seeing an office that had decorated their walls with Post-it note murals.  I did a search and found it again, so this is where this idea came from.  I had to change it up a bit because the one in the office photo is actually even bigger than this one!
I did some of the work at home, but then finished up the sides and edges at the school.  Jillian was happy to help finish him up.

Some kids walked by as we were putting it up and they seemed to think it was pretty cool.  Hopefully they wont start pulling the Post-it notes off until the end of the week!! I put some extras in my son's locker and if he notices some missing squares he can fill them in.

Thanks for stopping by!  and if you would like to see the super hero post-it note murals that inspired this one, you can click the link here...

May Paper Pumpkin Sneak Peek

Hello everyone!!  I wanted to give you a sneak peek of next months My Paper Pumpkin kit!  This comes with a great stamp set that will compliment your collection.  The stamps all work with the word "happy" so that you can use the birthday as shown, but then there are a lot of other words to substitute as well, such as retirement, mother's day, father's day and more.  There are a couple different card designs with this fun laser cut top and a layer of tangerine tango underneath.  We were able to make one at the Stampin' Up! On Stage Live event earlier this month and they are really fun.
And did you see last months?!!?
We got this fun wreath kit and some extra pieces to make some fun chalkboard style tags.  The wreath was fun, no glue gun required this time, the greenery wraps around the base.
Refills are available in the online store while supplies last.  The refills don't come with the stamps, so if you didn't get this kit, you can use another stamp on your sign piece.  You may have a Happy Spring or Happy Day or Welcome stamp in your stash.  Or maybe put a photo in the frame?  If you would like one of these adorable little wreaths just let me know!
But wait, there's more!
There are going to be some left over leaf strips.  Plenty actually.  Stampin' Up! has given us some ideas on what to make with those leaves. Check it out...
Look at these super cute cactuses, cacti? which is correct, I don't remember (haven't had my coffee yet!)

Really fun stuff!!  And I am sure that there is going to be a lot of other fun projects on the Pinterest page as people start using their kits!!  https://www.pinterest.com/paperpumpkin/
Go to the Stampin' Up! Pinterest page to see what else you can create with each months kits.  Not a subscriber?  WHAT!?!?  just kidding!  but really, you should think about it.  The kits have been getting better and better. Go to the Pinterest page and check out the kits for the past months!  You may want to buy some refills and make some of those really great projects!  https://www.pinterest.com/paperpumpkin/

Grateful Bunch

Isn't this a pretty card.  So simple but soft and lovely.  I used Calypso Coral and Very Vanilla. with a touch of Old Olive.  The colors came straight from the designer series paper, Pretty Petals.  If you are ever looking for some great color combinations, just take a look at the colors in the paper packs for some fun combos.  You can use the colors weather you use the patterned papers or not.  You can't go wrong with the wonderfully coordinated products.  I used some Calypso Coral bakers twine as an accent.

I love the lace edge stamp that comes with the Grateful Bunch stamp set.
I used the scallop oval punch and the lg oval punch for the sentiment piece.  These are both on the retirement list, so if you have been thinking of getting them, you better get them while you can!
Check out the retirement list here.

The sentiments that come with this set are really fun too.  You can use the stamp "You are totally awesome" all by itself, but it is also fun to stamp the inside with "and I am totally grateful".   I added the pretty floral paper and the lace stamp to the inside of the card as well.

The Grateful Bunch stamp set has a matching punch!  Click here to check it out!
