For the Win

I was asked to make some Basketball themed cards for Awards night of the Upwards Basketball program. I think these are going to the team coaches and other volunteers. This year the uniforms are Red, White and Blue. The players are given iron-on stars throughout the season to symbolize different things like teamwork or growth and they add them to the sleeves of their shirts. I love to see the shirts towards the end of the season. I added the large silver star to remind them of the stars on their shirts. And of course, the basketball.

I think this set is great for both adults and kids, as well as cards, scrapbook pages and party favors. I plan to make some cupcake toppers for the bake sale at the final game.

Quick and Easy Shamrocks using Hearts

Hi Everyone! With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner you may be thinking "I don't have a Shamrock Stamp" (when I first typed Shamrock Stamp my fingers typed Shamrock Shake!! Yummy).
Well, have no fear because I am sure you have a heart stamp, or punch or die! I made a variety of St. Patrick's Day cards using a heart stamp and some heart shaped dies. You probably have several stamp sets that have a heart in them, or many dies or punches with hearts. I am using a heart from the Heart to Heart stamp set, which is new in the Spring Mini catalog. I also used heart dies from the Support Ribbon dies.

Another stamp set that is used in this card is the A Wish for Everything stamps and Word Wishes dies (buy them as a bundle and save 10%). Check out this video for tips and tricks...

Loving Thoughts...

This week I am using some of the extra Crocus images from my coloring tutorial. I didn't want to just make the cards all the same, so this time I used a base of Gorgeous Grape. I love the way it looks with the black.
This Crocus image was stamped in Versamark and embossed with Black Embossing Powder. I then used my Aqua Painters to loosely paint the images, purposely not staying within the lines.
I used Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green with a touch of Daffodil Delight.
Tip: Some colors just do not play well together and turn a muddy brown or gray when mixed. Purple and Yellow are not a pair that play nicely. Test your colors before adding to a project, or visualize a color wheel and avoid mixing colors that are directly across from each other. Notice I kept a white space between my Daffodil Delight flower center and Highland Heather petals.
I also let the whole piece dry and then added a tough more intense color to get more variety of color values. If I had attempted to do this when the image was still wet, the added color may have just blended out into the wet color and not stand out as darker.
