Clearance rack finds!

Double Peek-a-Boo!!

A few weeks ago Stampin' Up! held it's annual convention.  I did not get to go, but I was stalking the blogs of a few people that did.  One of the blogs had a video of a cute double Peek-a-Boo card, but it didn't explain how to make it.  I tried a few times and just couldn't make it work. Then another demo mentioned that she saw a how-to on You Tube! Yea!  I'm a visual learner so a video is perfect for me.  Well, turns out this card is super easy! I was completly over complicating it.   Imagine the possibilities!  I'm thinking Halloween would be great for this card!  I wish I  was good at making videos because the action of the card is really fun.  The first set of monsters is peeking out of the wholes in the card, cute all on its own.  But then... when you open the card a little slider comes out and two more monsters peek out at you. 

This is a halfway action shot of whats happening.  See, I told you I  need to learn to take videos because that would be way better. 

Here it is all opened up.  See, new monsters.  I think I need to make a halloween card with bats or ghosts that peek out and say boo when you open the card.  Stay tuned for that one, and in the meantime, go check out the video I linked to above!

WaterFall Card

I made my first Waterfall card in 2004.  I thought they were so much fun.  Then, I forgot about them for a while.  I was thinking of making some cards with movement and wanted it to work for a 10 year old girl.  I thought of cupcakes, and the cupcake builder punch right away, but wasn't sure what I was going to do to make them move.  One of the sentiments that come with the Create a Cupcake set is "It's not about how many candles you blow out, but how many cupcakes you get!" and so I wanted to use a lot of cupcakes on my card.  Then I ran across a waterfall card while browsing online and then my card was done.  I had not made a waterfall card in years so I turned to my Favorite Craft Site Splitcoaststampers to get the tutorial.  They have just about everything, so I knew I would find it there.

The base of the card is Raspberry Ripple layered with Soft Suede Designer Series Paper.   The cupcakes cascade up when you pull down on the ribbon, showing you each cupcake one at a time. I made each cupcake a little bit different. 
 Fun for sure.  My daughter asked for one of her own.

Little Trike

I love this little tricycle from the Moving Forward stamp set.  This is the Ronald Mc Donald House set that I mentioned in THIS post.  Such a cute stamp set!!  Here I used the little trike.  I also used a lot of new items from the new Holiday Mini Catalog.  I love the look of paper piercing, so the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack was one of the items on my first Holiday Mini order.  This card uses all colors from the 2012-13 In-Color collection.  These colors really look great together!    The base is Gumball Green, layered with Raspberry Ripple.  The pennants were punched with the pennant builder punch in Summer starfruit, raspberry ripple, and midnight muse designer series paper.  I used markers to color the stamp and added some tiny flowers to the basket.  The Happy Birthday is from the Itty Bitty Banners set.    Thanks for stopping by!!

Proud Peacock

Recently I was asked to make up these candy bars for a wedding.  My cousin Don and his fiance Angela loved some shower favors I made, as well as the shower card I made.  The wedding invitation had a peacock theme, so when I made the card for her shower, I made it with a peacock theme too.  They asked me to make up some wrapped candy that they are going to use as gifts for the wedding attendees.  While the bridal party is taking pictures, they have arranged to have some games played, I think trivia type games, with the candy bars as prizes,  A good idea to keep guests entertained.  She said to make them any way I wanted and she loved the big peacock, so this is what I can up with.
I made a bunch of silver embossed peacocks, then cut the feather layers apart and inserted a ribbon layer.  I dyed the ribbon to match by using a sponged inked in Island Indigo. 

I used My Digital Studio to make the labels.  I put six on a page and cut them out with my Big Shot and the Labels Collection Framelit dies.  I also made some slightly larger ones in Vellum to layer underneath.  I also added some pretty white ribbon for a soft layer and some pretty pearls to fancy up my peacock even more! .

Sandi Visits Santa

The new Holiday Seasonal Catalog starts Today!!  There are so many things that I love in this catalog, but the Christmas section has to be my favorite.  Demonstrators were able to pre-order from the catalog in July, and when I received my order, the first thing I did was use the new My Digital Studio Downloads.  This page is made with the Candlelight Christmas papers and the new Snowflake set called Snowflake Soiree.  I love the lacy snowflakes.  This is a picture of my mother visiting Santa.  Such a cute picture it deserves a page all to itself.  Check out the new products by clicking my online store today :)

Halloween Treat Bags

One of my favorite things from the new Seasonal Mini Catalog are the Ghoulish Googlies Treat Bags.  So Cute!  I know I will be making these for the pre-school Halloween party!  The kit comes with 10 glassine bags, just the right size, not too big that it will take tons of candy to fill them.  You also get 50 googlie eyes, pre-stick :)  and printed tags with string to tie them on.   You can just write a name on the tags, or add one of the cute stamps from the Googly Ghouls stamp set.  The stamp set has images that are made to work with the googlie eyes.  Very Cute, I used the bat on this sample.  The kit is only $7.95 and the stamp set only $12.95 but if you buy them together the bundle is only $16.95, so for me it was a no brainer!  LOVE IT!  and you can get extra googlie eyes if you need them:)   I know Halloween is a couple months away, but I thought it was all so cute I had to open the package right away!
