The Watercolors of Fall

Hello everyone!  I am still loving these leaves!!  The trees all around are starting to change and the weather this past week has been so perfect.  I just can't seem to put this set back on the shelf.

I started by making stencils with the Leaflet Framelit Dies.

Next I used sponge daubers to add ink in a few colors.  I used Tangelo Twist, Delightful Dijon, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler.  I used watercolor paper.

Here is is with the sponging.

Next I used my Aqua Painter to go over the sponged areas.  With the yellows and oranges I went pretty quickly but on the red and green leaves you have to go color by color or you will get a yucky brown mess.  I first did the green, then cleaned the brush and did the red, then just lightly blended the middle where they met.

Here is the finished piece.  So pretty!!

I made a few with just maple leaves, as those are my favorites, and a few with tight arrangements and loose arrangements.

I then added some of the stamped images from the Lighthearted Leaves in Basic Black.

I did one version with the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set and the other with the Vintage leaves stamp set.  I can't decide which I like better.  You?

I let the watercolor show more on these two.

I made a watercolor tag that I think turned out really fun.

This sentiment tag was made from the stamp set that came with this months My Paper Pumpkin.

Well, thanks for stopping by! I hope you get a chance to get outside this week and check out some pretty fall colors!

  1. I love these cards! Personally I am partial to the Vintage Leaves version - the stamp in that set is "softer" looking which goes with the watercolor well. Thanks for sharing your technique!
